    tom, tom, tom....

while i reserve judgement and i won't counter with an equally strong viewpoint to the contrary, i will say that the U.S. will move into the second round and will have at least a "good" showing at the Confed Cup. Meet me back on this board after the match for the post-mortem.

"Will the real USA please stand up"

Either of the above scenarios can happen. The US remains an enigma really! We know very well what the US can do against Mexico, El Salvador, Jamaica, but only on occasion do we see the US play South Americans, Europeans and Africans for official games.

    THIS IS IT!

This is a great opportunity to ask the question : "Will the real USA please stand up". Will that be a US from the 1998 WC or a US from the 2002 WC? The world cup loss to Poland in WC02(was it 3-0) still lingers in my mind. That game was a flashback to WC98 and could have ended the US run in the WC had it not been for a late goal by Korea against Portugal. Im really looking forward to see if the US can finally confirm at least to me that they have REALLY arrived. This CC is extremeley important.

Re: "Will the real USA please stand up"

Thank you for saying it. I've been afraid to. I think daBruce has done a great job in terms of preparing his players for the "experience" of this cup without letting the obvious pressure (as stated above) weigh on them like a ton of bricks. This cup IS very imporant for some individuals as well as the USMNT and MLS.

    GO NATS

Again, also this coming from a Croat! Your team is a joke as are you. We won't win the tournament, but we will make it to the semis. Hopefully that will be enough to drive you off these boards just like it has other previous trolls. Solamente un froscio come te tifferebe per il Milan. Forza Juve!!

Re: Re: Re: Confederations Cup Predictions

I like Tudor (obviously), but Landon Donovan would still run circles around him. As far as Croatia beating Italy, ************ happens sometimes. 9 out of 10 we will beat you. You just happened to get lucky.

    3. Japan 0-1-2 2 points
    4. New Zealand 0-2-1 1 point

    Group B
    1. Brazil 2-0-1 7 Points
    2. USA 1-0-2 5 Points
    3. Turkey 0-1-2 2 points
    4. Cameroon 0-2-1 1 point

    Semi's

    France 2 USA 1

    Final
    France 2 Brazil 1

    Consolation Game

    USA 2 Columbia 1

As for Tom. He may be sensible when writing on topics other than the US, but he as bad as the worst US homers when it comes to evaluating America, and its chances when it comes to the national team. I'll freely admit, that I'm going w/a wack hunch that we'll somehow pull off a draw w/Brazil. We've played tight games w/them over the past decade so a draw is certainly possible.

I have not seen odds, but I assume the bookies rate the groups as follows

    France
    Japan
    Colombia
    NZ

    Brazil
    Turkey
    Camaroon
    USA

I will be very proud of this team if they pick up 4 points whice would most likely get them to the semis.

I'll say draws against Turkey and Cameroon and a 1-0 loss to Brazil. Second round is a toss-up but I'll say Turkey gets in due to playing Brazil last after they have clinched. (Alternatively, Turkey-Cameroon does not end in a draw).

The US could do better of course, but will Bruce's "you represent the greatest country in the world" speech still work at the Confed Cup?

France should coast, I'll take Colombia in second just because I feel Japan was pretty gutless in the WC. (ie, I'm talking out my arse).

Brazil takes the final on Pks over France.

i say in the us' group brazil is in for sure 1st or 2nd doesnt matter they are in . the last 3 will alternate depending my bet is on turkey or the us and whatever happens tomorrow will decide it. cameroon gets a lot of credit they havent deserved since the actual indominable lions days.

Nope, I really overrated the recent poor play of Japan. C'est la vie. I'll live, I'm doing my game by game picking over at the Confederations Cup Thread on the Fifa Tournaments side of this site.

So from this you conclude what? Croatia is better than Italy? Ha! Ha! You are a ************ing laughing stock! Don't worry about our hair and tans. The Italian players have so much money they could turn Croatia's team into their maids if they wanted to.
