Anyone know of a good place to watch the Confederations Cup matches this summer. I, along with most of the others in the RDU area have Time Warner without Galavision and Telefutura. As far as I know there is no way to even pay for the channel with TWC. Although I love the fact that I can get FSW, I can't believe that they only have one Spanish speaking channel on their Standard Digital Package (Univision or Telemundo, I'm not sure which)

    So, little help please.

Depending on scheduling. I do have Galavision, and might be able to hold watch parties for the US games on Saturday (live) and Monday (night/tape delay).

the Thursday game against Turkey will be going on in the middle of the WUSA All-Star game hoopla, so I won't be able to oblige with that one.

Thanks, do you have a bar or would this be somewhere else? Is there a group of people that get together for the US games? I would love to get involved with that.

If Andy will host one, I'll host one was as well. I have all three of the spanish language channels on my Dish network. It really depends upon the timing of some of the games since I have a 2 year old who must nap/sleep on a regular schedule.

One thing we might try is to find a bar that would be willing to be our "official" hangout for all the games.

Just let me know where to go, and I'll bring the grub/beers/whatever.

Has anyone ever been to the Fox and Hound in MacGregor Park(Cary)? It's an English Pub, that may have ability to show the games. I'll give them a call.

By the way I'm thinking about getting the Dish network, do you like it Jarrett? We have TW Cable, and I think we pay $50 ($100 for cable and hi speed modem). What do you pay for your cable package? Is it easy to set up?

Just wondering, did you guys come up with a plan for watching the games somewhere in the Triangle?

We have not been able to find a sports bar that has galavision/telefutura.

PM if interested in hosting or participating in a private viewing party at someone's house.

I watched the U-20 World Championships at the Sports Bar on West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, which I am pretty sure was on Galavision. Now that the game has been moved to tape delay to Thursday night, they'll more than likely be open (unlike trying to catch the ManU/Arsenal game during the afternoon . . . Grr.).

I have no idea whether or not they get TeleFutura.

That being said, I would probably be more interested in a watch party.

I'll be at the All-Star game on Thursday, and I'm going to head to DC on Saturday - can someone tape USA/Brazil for me - but I can have folks over on Monday for the Cameroon game.

For future referrence, Confederations Cup was aired on Univision (local in Raleigh-TWC Channel 8), Telefutura (on TWC Raleigh-Channel 17) and Galavision (Latin Package on TWC-extra $). Gold Cup coming up, can also be watched on Univision and Telefutura-both on basic cable in Raleigh. And most importantly, next year's World Cup will be aired on these as well. Let me know what games you want to watch and I can let you know the times.

Re: Gold Cup Watching in Raleigh, NC

Where is everyone watching the Gold Cup in the Triangle? I have DirecTV, so I don't get Telefutura. Are there sports bars in the area that show games on Telefutura or, for future reference, that show soccer at all?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

Damn. Did I forget to say please? (or did the confed group subject line throw you off.)

I looked & looked & found a bar that is willing & able to turn on the game at 4 today. I'll be down at Damon's down by the RBC.

Hey, Just back from visiting my girlfriend in the Asheville area, whilst I was there I watched a couple of USA gold cup games at her parents and they have Direct TV. Telefutura from what I remember was channel 830.

I'm not sure if it would be the same in the Raleigh area though. Me being from London an all and only used to having only 5 channels!

    'ope this 'elps.

Thanks, but my DTV is different, I guess. The 800s are audio/music channels.

The 'sports bar' was almost indescribably lame. And, of course, I was the only one watching the game. This is our regional tournament & the Americans are playing anonymously on a spanish language channel no one gets.

It's kind of a drag being a fan of the US nat'l team sometimes. I can totally understand some of these poseurs who grow up in Virginia & claim to be diehard Chelsea fans (and closet England fans.)
