The Columbus Dispatch says Jeff Cunningham, Kyle Martino and Frankie Hejduk will all get the call.

The Globe stated "Brian McBride is expected to start at forward, with Twellman in a reserve role", but I see no mention of McBride in the Dispatch...

Stoked about Martino, not so stoked about Jeffro, Hejduk is Hejduk. Full roster is supposed to come out today, right?

McBride asked not to be put on the team to stay with his wife who is due to give birth in June. So no McBride for this tournament.

I just read somewhere (don't have the link) that because of the positive comments Bruce has heard about the retro jerseys, we are also going to be wearing them in the Confederations Cup. Not only that, but he is also some adding some surprise players to the roster that might help the US win in the retros. Rumor has it that he is bringing in Tab Ramos, Thomas Dooley, David Vanole and Desmond Armstrong to help the new guys feel comfortable in the new kits. We should dominate the tourney with these guys on the roster

Seems weird without Jones on the roster. It's like a new era...

    Post-Jones.

Starting Line Up (what I THINK Arena will do):

    Howard
    Dolo-Pope-Berhalter-Boca
    Armas/Mastro
    Klein-Convey-DMB
    Mathis-Donovan

This is, of course, assuming a 442.

For which game? I highly doubt Arena will use the same lineup against each opponent.

Why are each of these guys missing all euro-based)?

    Reyna (not healthy yet)?

    Friedal?

    Keller?

    O'Brien?

    Barrett?

    Who else is missing?

The only surprise inclusions I see are Cannon and Hanneman and Gibbs as an alternate.

Glad to see that we are getting some new keepers in the mix. Total caps for the 3 is 9. Total caps for WC keepers is like 250.

    Our goalies rock!!

    Discuss.

    Thx,

    Jay!

I was surprised by Cunningham, but I don't know who I'd take in his place.

I like it. Califf and Cunningham are really the only two I could question. They could have easily been replaced by any of the alternates but not that big of a deal. It would not surprise me if the second or third game we see a completely different lineup from the others like he did in the Confed Cup in Mexico. The goal in this tournament is still player evaluation. The Gold Cup is when he REALLY cares about winning.

No big surprises, except that I had not heard McBride was going to be sitting this out. I guess I would have leaned towards Mulrooney over Mastroeni based on current form, but not much of a shocker there.

I really hope to see BA experiment with DMB on the right side of midfield as he did briefly in the run up to the WC last spring. DMB's crossing is far inferior to Lewis', but his strengths should be just as effective from the right. I like Klein, but I see a big drop-off from Lewis and DMB to him.

Unfortunate that JOB was not available. Does he have nagging injuries or was there a schedule conflict? It's difficult for me to imagine that he needs a rest.

I would have taken Conor Casey instead of Cunningham -- just to see if he can really be the next McBride.

Oh, and Keller is not on the roster b/c he's having surgery. I don't know why JOB isn't on the roster. And Reyna said during the Wales match that his goal is to play in the Gold Cup.

    Out of town
Reyna still nursing injuries, hopes to play in Gold Cup.
Friedel/Keller both asked for summer off and/or recovering from (knee?) surgeries.
    O'Brien, recovering from injury.
    Barrett? Are you kidding?

    I think we'll see:

    ----------Howard
    Hejduk--Pope--Berhalter --Boca
    ----------Armas
    Stewart--------------Beasley
    ---------Mathis
    ---Kirovski ----- Donovan

With Mathis and Donovan switching roles alot.

    I'd love to see:

    ------------Howard
    ----Pope--Berhalter --Boca
    -----Armas-----Mastro
    Donovan-------------Beasely
    ----------Convey
    ---Twellman-----Mathis

    But I ain't holdin' my breathe ....

I'm guessing you mean either Armas or Mastro because otherwise you've invented a new formation...... 4-5-2
