  1. Conf. Semis Game 2 :: Fire v. DC Sunday Nov 9th Pregame

Six days left in United's season and Etcheverry's career.

Same starting 11 as Saturday save CJ back in for Perez - but that might just be wishful thinking.

As long as we play like Saturday, we're golden.

I thought Perez actually played pretty well (save that one really, really bad shot!). I don't know if I would change anything from last week. It's nice to see how easily the Fire can move back and forth from their 3-5-2 to their 4-4-2.

I wonder how Mapp's fitness is. Is he still carrying an injury? He could probably do some damage if he was inserted into the lineup should we go back to 3-5-2.

  3. I agree, Perez did play better than his usual. However, CJ is listed as probable and I really miss the dance.

It was great to see our guys maintain their cool against such a colossal display of trash soccer. This bodes very well for the remains of the playoffs and final.

D.C. was a pack of hacking & howling monkeys, but we didn’t get pulled down to their level. Our boys stuck with our game and the result came. That second goal was just what we needed.

At least our playoff series is relatively tame compared to the others...

  8. I would (a little reluctantly) say:

    ..............Thornton
    Whitfield Curtin Bocanegra Perez
    Williams Marsch Armas Beasley
    ............Jaqua....Razov

    Substitutions:
    Mapp for Williams 60'
    Bolanos for Marsch 80'
    Gray for Perez 85'

unless we are winning by a wide margin; then

Ralph for Jaqua instead of Gray for Perez 75'

I'd love to see Bolanos come in during the second half. Hopefully we'll be winning, but even if we're not.

It worked so well in the lead up last time I thought it couldn't hurt.

Since this thread is titled "...Sunday Nov 9th Pregame". Here's what I am doing pre-game:

    - drinking champagne & OJ with my fellow Barn Burners atop the Waldron parking structure.
[few people know this but I have "méthode champenoise" tattooed on my ass.]
    - admiring the Supporters Shield on view at the tailgate.
    - switching quickly to Guiness.
    - watching rich sailboat owners snap the masts off their fancy boats speeding across Waldron drive.
    - presenting the Supporters Shield to our boys at 11:58 a.m.

  14. Interesting, but bloody marys would be a lot more manly.

  15. We couldn't be so lucky to have such stellar entertainment again.
    ENJOY!

I'd like us to march in about 11.40a.

Think everyone can finish up their 'gaiting about then?

I'm trying to figure out what to make of the fact that, as of this moment, the "Section 8 planning" thread has more than five times as many posts as the thread about the actual game itself...

Starting lineup should probably stay the same as last week. Four defenders at the outset should help to contain the initial bum rush we're likely to see from United.

    Later,

    Bocanegra
    Perez

I hope this message isn't getting out too late, but it's really rather imperative a good bit of folks come in slightly early in the march in. There's probably going to be some kind of tv coverage at the tailgate/march and then during the shield presentation on ESPN we're gonna try to pull off the mosaic. For that, we need as many people as possible in the stadium in the center two sections of Section 8 no later than noon.

Please, do your best to be at or in your seat by noon, or the mosaic just isn't gonna work.

Also, Matt, I'm going to call you to be sure, but has someone gotten the megaphone already?

    Thanks. See you all tomorrow.
