Tigres beat Monterrey easily 4-0 with both Hermoso and Kgatlana scoring for UANL, bringing MD1 to a close MD2 will be Sept.4-5 with the headlining match being Portland hosting América late Wednesday

Now, that's a recap!!! I always found funny Miah Zuazua's surname. Does anyone know what her origins are?
MD2 will be tomorrow and Thursday! Portland and Gotham will play their opening matches of the tournament against teams that won their MD1 encounters, with Portland-America definitely looking like the game of the matchday. Elsewhere, the four losers of MD1 (by a combined score of 0-18 ) will face off in the other two MD2 games.
Able to watch both games tonight Apparently Santa Fe is missing several of its PanWNT players, but Vancouver is also missing several of its CanYNT players too. Should be interesting Vancouver beat Alianza 1-0 in the CWCC play-in match while Santa Fe beat Alianza 4-0 in the UNCAF championship match
First ten minutes have been almost entirely in Vancouver's half with multiple good crosses from Santa Fe, though Vancouver has had a good breakaway or two as well Definitely feels like a step or two down from the Summer Cup matches, though
Vancouver score their first non-penalty goal of the tournament against the run of play with a rocket from the top of the box Santa Fe has gotten plenty of looks but every shot/free kick/corner kick had landed easily in the GK's gloves
Santa Fe absolutely dominant in the stats except for the one that counts: (Per Google) Possession 61-39 Shots 21-8 Passes 349-240 Pass accuracy 75%-51% Corners 13-3 Goals 1-2
Full-strength lineup from America in Portland; Portland has a few of their stars on the bench, notably including Smith.
Sinclair 2 America 0 This time off a counter attack! Most of the game so far has been in America's half, but they actually had some great play in Portland's half over the past 5min
Portland has taken the foot off the gas after Sinclair's second goal, and America have spent more time in Portland's half than not. Moultrie picks up the first card of the match just a minute or so before halftime in an otherwise fairly clean match (much, much cleaner than Santa Fe - Vancouver was, jeesh)
America have been in total control of the match since they drew one back after Portland hit their third. The amount of times Portland unnecessarily simply gave the ball away during the second half is infuriating. I mean, full credit to America's press too, but if Portland could properly weight their passes, they could have avoided a lot of stress and likely scored an insurance goal... i.e. 3-2 makes the match dangerous while 4-1 puts it away
I can watch again tonight! Gotham's USWNTers all beginning on the bench I do love Alajuelense's colors =edit= Esther Gonzalez dances around defenders and scores a rocket from outside the box in just the second minute And Gotham with another good chance a minute later
Alajuelense hosting Gotham at the same time the Costa Rican MNT is playing at home is a poor bit of scheduling if they're hoping to build interest in this tournament.
I highly, highly doubt there's much overlap in interested fans to worry about here. Besides, we didn't know who had the control over when home vs away games were played
Alajuelense's keeper earning her colors tonight! Reaction deflection on a point blank shot there. After several instances of questionable contact, a clear shirt pull finally earns Gotham a penalty. Keeper guesses wrong and Stengel converts.
Nighswonger with a free kick goal off the crossbar right in the stroke of halftime. Gotham are cruising. Also, looks like it's a fairly constant rain, so that's not helping either
I was at the Thorns v Club America game last night. One of the fun parts was all the Club America fans -- about half the attendance. Apart from the guys who seemed to be regular fans of Mexico teams, there were a lot of families with young kids. They all were boisterous and enthusiastic, cheering for their Aguilas.
It wasn't a "shirt pull", my friend! It was an obvious hugging. A typical example of very low soccer IQ. The Gotham player would have never scored once in a life time in this situatiation, but the Alajuelense player panicked and won that penalty for the opposing team.
