Unrest hits home for Haiti Peter Germain wrestled with conflicting emotions. The importance of a World Cup qualifier suddenly seemed secondary in the Haitian national team defender's thoughts. Early Saturday, Germain's house in the Haitian city St. Marc was burned as the country's political unrest intensified. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/8012121.htm
Final Score: British Virgin Islands 0:1 St. Lucia A good result for the British Virgin Islands but may not be enough having to go back to St. Lucia next month. For St. Lucia, this is ok, but now the pressure will be on them in hte return leg.
FT British Virgin Islands 0:1 St. Lucia Elva 54' Titus Elva plays for W Connection in Trinidad. Excellent result for BVI, although it's unlikely they can win the return leg.
Cayman Islands 1, Cuba 2. FT from Grand Cayman. L. Moré for Cuba in the 52nd minute T. Elliot with the equalizer in the 72nd for the Caymans. L. Marten with the winner for Cuba in the 89th minute. Cayman Islands played with 10 men after the 76th minute. Return leg on March 27 in Havana, with maybe El Diego in attendance
Cayman Islands vs. Cuba Cayman Islands 1 Cuba 1 Just going off the FIFA information/matchtracker, Cayman was down to 10 men for the last 15 minutes of the match. Cuba took the lead in the 52nd minute, Cayman made it 1-1 in the 72nd. The tieing goal probably came from a set piece, pk, or maybe even handball, something controversial, because two Cuban players (including the GK) got booked right after the goal. Lots of cards overall, 10 according to the FIFA info. Surprising result no doubt, now Cuba will have lots of pressure for their home match. Wait, this just in... Just as I was writing this post, GOAL CUBA! 89th minute! Goalscorer - Marten. Cuba 2, Cayman Islands 1. Still will be close for the 2nd leg, but Cuba gets an away win with a huge last minute goal.

Looks like those antilles fans were a bit overconfident....... Looks like a few of their Dutch Pros were there but still weren't enough.
British Virgin Islands recruit Reggae Boy for St. Lucia clash The British Virgin Islands have sought the help of the former Jamaican star and ‘Reggae Boy’ Michael Tulloch, as they prepare for their crucial match against neighbouring island St. Lucia in the first round of qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™. Tulloch, who only arrived in the Virgin Islands at the beginning of the year, knows he has a man-size task in front of him. “Up until now, the team hasn’t been very professional when it comes to training,” he told FIFAworldcup.com. The Jamaican will be calling on all his expertise and experience in an attempt to mould his charges into a capable footballing unit. http://concacaf.com/view_article.asp?id=2440

Bermuda-Montserrat preview from the Bermuda Sun: http://www.bermudasun.org/archives/2004-02-27/06Sports01/ The suggested chants for Bermuda fans at the bottom of the article are pretty lame. Grenada-Guyana articles: http://www.stabroeknews.com/index.pl/article_sports?id=3990734 http://www.stabroeknews.com/index.pl/article_sports?id=3990733 Guyana squad for the match: Marlon Hendricks, Andrew Durant, Orville Bobb, Orlando Gilgeous, Howard Lowe, Walter Moore, Dirk Archer, Shawn Beveney, Neil Hernandez, Kayode McKinnon, Gregory Richardson, Randolph Jerome, Travis Waterton, Abassy McPherson, Jerome Richardson, Troy Prescod, Cary Harris and Anthony Abrams.

The Grenada team have tried to bring in a lot of pro's and non league semi-pros from England, this is in addition to jason Roberts of Wigan who played in the last WC campaign. The players who have turned up for the squad are Alvin Bubb, Byron Bubb, cousins who play for Alysbury Town in the non-league (both ex English football league pro's). Dwayne Lee who plays for Exeter in the conference league. In addition to these players they have talked about getting Craig Rocastle (Chelsea Reserves, although he has been on the bench for Chelsea this season), he is the cousin of ex Arsenal+England star David. Ashley Sestanovitch (Sheff Utd - on loan at conference team Scarboro) and Darrell Cox who plays for non-league team Chestnut. I don`t think any of these last 3 players have turned up for the squad yet.
These are the Grenada-Guyana lineups as per fifaworldcup.yahoo.com Grenada- Guyana K Baptiste M Hendricks A Modeste O Gilgeous P Modeste H Lowe S Joseph O Bobb D Rennie W Moore N Bishop D Archer K Thomas S Beveney J James N Hernandez E George K McKinnon R Morris G Richardson B Benjamin R Jerome and the subs: A Augustine A McPherson R Charles A Abrams B Bubb T Prescod A Bubb C Harris K Phillip T Waterton F Baptiste J Richardson D Noel A Durant
Jason Roberts stayed in England and played for Wigan against Walsall today. It looks as if the rest of Grenada's English players are on the bench tonight.
Grenada 1 - 0 Guyana Ricky "Da Man" Charles 25 min roughly of play off free kick. JG you beat me to it...nice job Any one know about the other game, Aruba - Surinam...is there any Radio or TV? Fifa's site (Matchtracker)is not yet updated.
FIFA has Aruba-Surinam as 0:0 at halftime, which, if true, is a big surprise by Aruba. It looks as if Surinam is using a fully home-based squad.
thanks! Lovely to listen to the drums in the background on the webcast. also, here are the corrected lineups as per fifa... K Baptiste M Hendricks A Modeste O Gilgeous P Modeste H Lowe S Joseph O Bobb D Rennie W Moore N Bishop D Archer K Thomas S Beveney J James N Hernandez R Charles K McKinnon B Benjamin G Richardson K Phillip R Jerome
Aruba 0 - 1 Surinam M Felter (54' PEN) Note* G Pantophlet played for Aruba when they attempted to qualify in 1998 for France...did'nt make the squad that attempted to qualify in 2002 and thought that he had retired...and is once again the starter. Ryan Tromp was pencilled to be the keeper of the future for Aruba...maybe wasn't in match shape or is injured? They are also without their star midfielder Richard Jacobs??? As meek as it sounds...i don't think Aruba has their ( and please keep the giggling to a minimum ) A line-up for qualifying.
