it was unique how he was used but we could do something similar with perhaps Tessmann if his long passing is deemed essential. Lots of parts right now for Poch to sort through.

It's a new situation. It may translate, but it doesn't 1:1 apply. Jamaica has also shown to be a different challenge for a lot of our players, like ARob, even at home. They're the fastest team in the world. Atalanta's not providing that sort of test, even if they may be better in a vacuum (Jamaica A does have a lot of star attackers though). I do think reprising Philly's McKenzie-Trusty pairing is a reasonable decision at this point, unlike just trotting CCV out there w/ him again. But there are other directions you could go (Zimmerman for 1).
Would have to say Canada are the fastest team of good players in Concacaf. Bombito and Davies are among the fastest players in the world. Schafelburg and Buchanan were among the fastest in MLS.
Yeah... they have elite speed. They are perfectly built as a counter-attack team since said speed is up top AND at CB/LB... The latter allows them to play a high line and therefore congest the field to make it easier to set traps... and they can counter with numbers because they only need either Davies or Bombito to be within a few strides of any ball over the top. As long as those guys are on the pitch I think they are only going to get better.
I actually think if you want to go with most in form CBs ya gotta go with McKenzie and Trusty. They already have chemistry from their Union days
yup Ready to roll 🇺🇸Our November @CNationsLeague roster drops SUNDAY at 10 a.m. ET. pic.twitter.com/uhKlw8nijj— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) November 7, 2024
They might as well push it back some more for those of us on the west coast who won’t be up at 7 on a Sun.
This has to be the latest roster release I can remember. I can't think of another time it came out the same week as the game. I feel like maybe there was a January camp roster or something that came out a day or two before camp started, but the actual game was a couple weeks after that.
Agreed, but we've been so snakebit by injuries that it makes (more) sense (than usual) to wait and see who has returned to action (Adams, though limited minutes) and who hasn't (Balogun, still out).
Nah. They always used to come out this late. A lot of times they'd come out the Monday after the weekend and people would by checking Insta/Twitter for flight pics for leaks before we got a roster. Was like this under JK, and I think Bradley too, and Arena too.
Kochen in, no dual nats... The USMNT 🇺🇸 roster to be released this Sunday is expected to have 25-27 players, even though only 23 can be registered. No ❌ Anrie Chase, Koleosho, or Nathaniel Brown. Also no Lund(finally) and it looks like Tyler Adams won’t make it.Diego Kochen is expected to be called in,…— Tactical Manager (@ManagerTactical) November 9, 2024
Why would he give so many specifics if he didn't really know? The roster comes out Sunday so it's not like people are going to forget what he said over the next two days... 25-27 players No Chase, Koleosho, Brown No Lund Yes Kochen No Adams Yes Miles Robinson No Luna Yes Zendejas Yes Vazquez No Cowell No Maloney I didn’t see his name there.— Tactical Manager (@ManagerTactical) November 9, 2024
I don't really understand why US fans get so impatient. This is a FIFA competition. Not a friendly. There's a roster submission deadline. Why not wait until the last moment to monitor minor injuries or other situations? Why do we need the roster a week ahead of time? We'll find out when we find out. Pochettino doesn't seem particularly concerned as he was taking in the Magic game in Orlando last night. Or maybe he's recruiting a new centerback.
Also, one thing we do know is that Cole Campbell won't be with the USMNT in this window. He's with the U20s. For some reason he's listed as William Campbell. Well, the reason is that's his name. But still. I got excited for millisecond thinking there was another U20 at Dortmund I didn't know about. Noahkai Banks is also with this group.
