Now that the Gold Cup is over, we move on to the next round of Nations League which double as the 2024 Copa America Qualifiers

Kicking off September 7th, we will get some higher qualify matchups with the #1 and #2 seeds in each Group for League A playing each other in a H/A round robin, but competitively the final standings may see some wonky results.

Jamaica has to play Haiti twice and Honduras while Haiti and Honduras do not have to play each other and get to gain points against less competitive competition

Same with Guatemala, who has to play Panama twice and El Salvador while Panama and El Salvador do not have to play each.

#5 seeds Curacao and Suriname have a solid chance at advancing if they can rack up some points and goals against #6 seeds T&T and Grenada respectively.

It will be very interesting to follow and hopefully any inequalities in scheduling can be worked out in future versions.

I feel like a lot of those squads will be watered down. just cuz a lot of players don't like to leave mid-season for halfway around the world to play the likes of "grenada" or "cuba"

There are some good games upcoming and I like how they did try to get more top tier vs top tier games this cycle.

In the future maybe they consider a High Tier Group and a Low Tier Group if they wanna keep this format.

A group of Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador would be a blast.

Here is my early prediction list of top matches to watch by Matchday
    MATCHDAY 1
    09/07 El Salvador @ Guatemala
    09/08 Honduras @ Jamaica
    MATCHDAY 2
    09/10 Panama @ Guatemala
    09/12 Haiti @ Jamaica
    MATCHDAY 3
    10/12 Haiti @ Suriname
    10/13 Panama @ Curacao
    MATCHDAY 4
    10/15 Jamaica @ Haiti
    10/17 Guatemala @ Panama

If El Salvador and Honduras can get those road wins in matchday 1, they have a very high likelihood of advancement with a crystal clear path to November QFs

Can someone explain to me why they did the games like this? Like why do the 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6 seeds play each other twice and then have 1 game vs the other grouping.... how does that make sense?

And the Curaçao fall continues... Soca Warriors run out winners at home to kick off their NL campaign.

Guatemala got the nice 2 nil decision versus El Salvador in a must win game for them.

Panama with the decisive win sets up the massive game at Guatemala

El Salvador will be in good shape if they can get the home win against T&T

Guatemala and Panama have to do a H&H with each other while El Salvador get H&H with Martinique. Dumb dumb dumb

My apologies to any neutrals who sat through Haiti/Cuba... the searing heat didn't help, but that was a painful watch :oops:

Listen, Nazon has his track record and all, so I wouldn't be shocked if yet another Haiti MNT coach fell out with him... but if Franztdy Pierrot is missing for any reason other than injury, Calderón's seat should be getting mighty hot right now.

It doesn't at all, on the surface... here's my best guess as to Concacaf's endgame with implementing this format.

But they made it much better to be the 3rd and 5th seeds than the 2nd or 4th

... you know what? I'm glad that this discussion is being had in local media, and I hope someone confronts Moggio or Montagliani with the question. I've had my fun with the speculation and all, but one can't help but notice that we've had NO official explanation from Concacaf for this schedule.

Too many Anglo teams going for the Copa América. Slots should be one each for Spanish, English, Dutch and French-speaking members. Canada can slot in either one of ours

Bad joke. Mind you, Haiti are doing their part to set up a potential Franco-derby in the QFs... where did this 2-0 lead at the Office come from??
