Revs, Colorado and Seattle already in. One of TOR/MON will be in, plus MLS Cup winner (or SKC if NER,COL,SEA or VAN take the Cup).

Round of 16 begins Feb 15th, so it will be a short off-season for the Revs.

Well folks, we're going to have some early season fixture congestion.
The league just announced the home openers and the Revs are playing in Portland on 2/26. Second leg of the champion's league is 2/22-24.

Hopefully we'll navigate it better than some others. Seems like MLS teams with early tournament games this season struggled in the early going in MLS.

OTOH, it may have been a foreshadowing that those clubs just weren't that good this year.

With VAN, SEA and COL now out of the playoffs, SKC rooting for Revs in the East. An MLS Cup final of NER vs SKC would guarantee SKC the last CCL spot.

Looks like they weren't able to do their part.

The side of the bracket the Revs are in is a freaking gauntlet. They absolutely should advance out of their matchup with Cavaly (please, lord...I already have enough nightmares featuring Caribbean zone minnows), but then? Odds are they would get Pumas in the next round (even if they didn't, Saprissa is of course one of the historically strong Costa Rican sides). Somehow advance past that? Most likely, they get the winner of Cruz Azul and Santos Laguna, both of whom are the likely victors over their Canadian opponents. If the Revs actually manage to make it through their side of the bracket to the final, it will be one hell of a run.

Gonna be tough to have a significant fan presence at Gillette. I'd prefer Harvard, but in potentially severe weather conditions, having your own locker room and facilities just steps from the field is significant.

Apparently Cavaly hasn't played a competitive match since the end of May when their league shut down. That's a big deal.

Wonder if Revs II Francoise Dulysse knows any of their players from HNT camps?

There's no excuse if we don't win this round.

Now, the next round is going to be tough.

If you haven't seen the turnaround time, it's pretty rough. We're going to start off the season immediately needing depth.

Feb 15-17th @ Cavaly, in Haiti (or probably the Dominican)
    Feb 22-24th Cavaly
    Feb 26th @ Portland
    March 5th Dallas

    March 8-10th @ Saprissa/UNAM, CCL QF
    March 12th RSL
    March 15-17th Saprissa/UNAM, CCL QF
    March 19th @ Charlotte

8 matches in the first month of play. Now that's fixture congestion.

Not a bad problem to have!

The good news is they have a bye weekend after those 8, so don't play again until April 2nd.

They only have 3 weekends off all season:
    March 26
    June 4
    Sep 24

I think they'll essentially use the CCL 1st round as they would the Desert Diamond Cup, or whatever happens this year. In essence, that home/home will be their final tuneups for the MLS regular season. And, yes, they should be able to win while not in mid-season form - it's a huge benefit that Cavaly won't be either.

Normally the heat/humidity would be a huge stumbling block in the Caribbean, but if they do their preseason in a warm place, as they usually do, it won't be the same shock as it would later in the season.

They'd better not Mid-Michigan Bucks it, that's all I'm saying.

Since this is the CCL, they better not Joe Public it.

    Agreed ... except ...

April 2nd league game, that week a possible CCL semifinal leg, April 9th league, the following midweek the second leg, April 16th league, April 23rd league, that midweek the CCL Final leg, April 30th league, that following midweek the second Final leg, May 7th league.

So you're looking at potentially 10 matches in that 5 week window.

BTW, as a fan .. this would be amazing.

    Its worse than that.

The matches they played in may were for the carribean cup (they won the final on may 25th). Their last league game was played in january, their season's second half (think liga mx clasura) got completely cancelled due to covid

I feel like the Bucks were a lower point in Revs history, since they were a PDL side. At least Joe Public was a "champion." But I take your point.

...and they haven't been in the CCL since. If they lose in the first round again, it may be another 13 years before the get back.
