Let's face it, if we draw better than 3,500 for this match it'll great. I think we had around that for the game in Elk Grove, aka the cow pasture, last year and that was in the middle of nowhere and freezing to boot! So i guess the question is: Are you going to the San Jose/csd Municipal game or are you blowing it off?
Do you even have to ask how I voted? Hell yes I got my tickets. Two weeks and I can't wait!! Woo freakin hoo!
I'll try to attend the match (especially since I can't attend the two home games in April), but be forewarned: my presence at the game will most assure low attendance.       My absence in April, on the other hand, will assure great attendance for both the home games that month.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Not only will I definitely be attending, I will be leaving work early in order to beat some of the commute and get my pre-game drinking in early. (Double bonus!!!) With all of the new players, I'm especially intrigued to get out and see the guys this pre-season. (Not to mention, I am achin' for soccer to start!) I just got my tickets tonight in the mail. We are sitting in section G3, wherever that is. Doesn't match the seating chart but I guess that's what you get when you buy General Admission.
I just got my ticket in the mail today as well. Now I know that the game will have low attendance!       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Got tickets? You betcha... Five of them for the family. Throw them into the mini-van and head on down to Spartan! Of course, I have to figure out how to tell my kids why Joe Cannon is not playing in goal.
Does anyone want to save gas and beat traffic by taking the carpool lane to the game, from the greater San Mateo area? Alexi, are you going? RWCQuakesFan? I can drive, but I can't leave until 6 or so, and the carpool lane on 280 will definitely help me get there in time for a beer or two in the parking lot.
Yeah, I am going! I didn't get my tickets yet, but assume it won't be a problem to buy them at the gates. I can't leave work before 6pm either
Everything except the Gold Seats (111) is general admission. The info sent out from the Quakes implies you can sit anywhere in the West stand except 111 with a GA ticket.
tickets came yesterday.... gotta admit, kinda fired up about the lack of first-leg coverage....a simple match tracker, people.... they did it last year with the away leg.....
If we only get 3,500 people.....i'd be dissapointed. It's in SJ, Why wouldn't people go.....I can understand kids staying home on a school night but come on people, you can be home by 10:00pm if you are local.....by 11:00 if yer not local. If you can't swing that, then you aren't a true fan. There are reasons to miss this match but not "It's a work night". Being the eternal optimist that I am, i'm saying we get 6,833.
They put it (as well as announcements about the opening doubleheader) on the jumbotron/scoreboard several times at last night's Chivas-Club America game. The announcements and display that I saw were in English, I didn't hear anything in Espanol.
Bill, I would be interested. The only complication is that I have the BAQF to take. We could meet at my house and go from there. PM or email me.
More like 11:30 or 12:00 for me (depends on your commute) but I'm going to try anyway. After all, it's only work!
When would we leave? I go to school in San Bruno, so it might just work out to stay there and hook up with you guys before you leave. I'm going to check with Bajoro and mlsfan11 to see if they're going.
Defender / porkrind / blacktide (hey, I know all your real names, so why are we using BigSoccer aliases?): Alexi and I both work in San Mateo near the 101/92 interchange, and neither of us can leave until 6 PM. The goal is to hit the road at 6 and take 92 up to 280, then the carpool lane all the way down. I think Alexi is still carless, and my rockin' casbahmobile can only carry four people including the driver, so we can't all go together unless someone else drives. I would prefer not to get off the freeway and go pick people up, unless it's really convenient. For example, if you can get to one of the park'n'ride lots off 280 (there is one at 280/92, one at 280/Edgewood in San Carlos, and one at 280/Woodside Rd in Woodside) then we can pull off and get you on the way down. Or you can park in the lot where I work, I can send you directions, if you can get here by 6. It's probably best to continue this via email, so drop me a line at billreeves@yahoo.com and we can discuss more details. -- Bill
I am currently driving my friend's VW Jetta, and already decided to buy this car. My loan application should be approved today - so next week I'll start owning this car officially. My DL is up in the air, but as long as court process still continues - I can drive a car without any restrictions.
I am so stoked to go to this game. I just bought my tickets today so I am hella excited. By the way, being that the majority of this game is general admission, does anyone know what time the gates open? Took the day off of work to see this game so I 'll see everyone there.
I'd imagine it will be like any other game, one hour before kick-off.... and with that day off, that means plenty of parking lot libations!
Hopefully alot of fans feel as you do. or else the next time we'll be playin a CONCACAF home match in Bakersfield. I wonder if there are alot of Guatamalans in the San Jose area, we need them to show too or it's back to Sac.
HEY! What's wrong with having a match in Sac? Beautiful weather up there this time of year... **AHEM** Just kidding, of course. Last year it took me only 20 minutes through the backroads to get home from the Olimpia match. But if there were another match in Sac this year, it'd be a 3+ hour slog for me. Besides, if they ever have a Quakes match up there again, it had better be at Hughes Stadium or Hornet Stadium, not at a high school. Hell, even the stadium at American River College, where the section high school soccer playoffs are held, would be an improvement.
