Good stuff Martin, thanks...of course you can substitute Brian McBride for Joe Max Moore at Everton, and Earnie Stewart isn't with NAC Breda anymore, he's coming to MLS.

And Stefani Migliorzani is now with Swindon Town (Eng 2).

    Changes made to original list:

    1. Corrected Migs information
    2. Added Goater
    3. Added Richard Hastings and Wyn Belote for the Canadians.

I did not add those Canadians who are on Reserves, youth or loans. Nor did I add the Canadians who play for another country.

My list is accurate only through December 31, 2002. After that, I will add new entries such as McBride though the list will continue to contain those that were rostered in Europe for part of the 2002/2003 season like Stewart and Moore.

Just a few notes on Canada. Niall Thompson is no longer with Wycombe (though Mark Rogers still is). Canadian youngster Terry Dunfield is now playing first team with Bury in the English 3rd Division - he's a central midfielder. Martin Nash (formerly of Rochster Raging Rhinos in the A-league) has just signed with Macclesfield Town in the English 3rd Division - he's normally a wide-left midfielder. Rob Friend is a young Canuck striker who just signed with Moss in the Norwegian First Division. Adam Braz is a defender who just signed with Vasteras (sic?) in the Swedish First Division. To confirm what Canadian Supporter stated, 19-year old Atiba Hutchison has signed with Osters in the Swedish Premiere League. He is a central defensive midfielder (who I think will get called to play against the US on the 18th).

These are first-team players. There are a whole bunch more in the youth ranks or reserves, but I guess that's for another list.

    Re: Re: CONCACAF Abroad

One more Canadian national team member that I don't think is there -midfielder Tam Nsaliwa plays first team for FC Saarbrucken in Germany.

Incidentally, Hume & Xausa's are strikers, Reda is a central defender, there's no "i" at the end of Corrazzin, and its Julian De Guzman, rather than "Julio". (Sorry if that comes across as being nit-picky).

Torrado was a starter before the his injury. Up until a month or ago, Torrado was still injured. And he has been starting every game since.

So you consider the Bundesliga and the rest of the EPL rubbish?

Either way, this is CONCACAF Abroad thread, which means all leagues should be accounted for, not just the big teams.

Well that's true but still I have seen lots of them and they are quality players. How on earth do you develop them all in the cold clime of Canada with so few months to train?
    Are they mostly from BC?

Well they get April/May-October outdoors and the rest indoor (for coastal provinces, there's more outdoor soccer). Otherwise, many of the players going over to Europe have been part or are part of youth national teams which seem to have 2-3 camps a winter.

Actually, of all the players named above, the majority of them are from Ontario, with quite a few coming from B.C., some from Alberta and Quebec, and one from Nova Scotia.

This is not surprising, as historically much of the make up of the national team has been from these Ontario (as the most populous province) and B.C. (a traditonal soccer hotbed).

Thanks for all the info.. Just don't let them get so good they knock the US out of a world cup spot someday!
Other than that I wish them all the best even though Canada blew up the Baldwin Brothers!

    A couple of comments.

    1. I decided, due to a lack of time, to only go to second divisions for Italy, Germany, France and Spain. I went three levels in England, but not to Division 3 in England.

    2. I wait until the site I use confirms someone is on the roster until I add them. That explains some of the new Canadian signings in Scandanavia. If they get in a game, I am sure they will make my list.

    3. I don't mean to imply that the Canadians are the best simply because they have more players in Europe. The level of the league and the lack of a domestic alternative are certainly important factors.

Or just the ones without US/Canada players? ;)

Tough list to come up with. I didn't know there were this many players from the region abroad on decent sides.

    Great work Martin.

So good that I even had some doubts cleared up, I had thought that Aguirre had signed some Mexicans for Osasuna, from what I can see this isn't the case. Though I was sure there was someone there.

Just a comment, perhaps you should specify league goals, as some have been scoring big in Cup games, which you have not included.

Very good of you to find Pezzarossi at Racing Ferrol, Ante Razov's former team.

I reckon that a big percentage of those Jamaicans are english born and bred .I never knew that Charltons Kevin Lisbie had played for Jamaica until I saw that list. They seem to be poaching more and more players .I bet they could play a full 11 of english born players.
I also seem to recall watfords Micah Hyde playing for jamaica ....
thankfully most of them are players who wouldnt get picked for england in a million years .
I remember when one of those carribean islands tried to select Julian Joachim..they then realised that he had already played for england under-21's (at the last minute) ...
The leader of the islands football federation got all upset and threatened not to vote for englands world cup bid .He should have concentrated on producing his own homegrown players instead of poaching other countries players...

I bet the concacaf qualifiers will be interesting in the future .. All the carribean teams will be packed with english players ..A game like Trinidad vs. jamaica will be like an english lower divisions league game...

Ince and Marvin Andrews will be on the next version of my list.

Rahim already is on the list, though apparently incorrectly

Wrexham is in Division 3, which I am not including on my list.

I am not including youth players. Falkirk is not in the Scottish Premier League, so I am not including it.

My site list Norville as English, so unless he has been or is capped for T&T, he is outside my list.
