Well. He’s one of the best prospects in Austin’s academy.

I guess it all depends on what "coming out as a competitive soccer power in CONCACAF" means, and the time frame in which to do it.

Certainly there's a Dominican diaspora that's helped by MLS. Many countries in the Caribbean are helped by diaspora, including regional heavyweights like TnT and Jamaica. But IMO, the Dominican program remains relatively weak, even compared to up-and-coming minnows like Curacao.

I don't think anyone figures that Guatemala is going to have a Golden Generation off the backs of this tournament, so I am skeptical that we're going to see a sea-change in their MNT fortunes for at least the next decade off of a single run of U20 performances which have come out of nowhere.

Who are the possibilities for siblings with the most combined USMNT caps, or perhaps even more interesting, most national team games played together?

    A. Brenden and Paxten Aaronson
    B. Malik and Tim Tillman
    C. Gio and Joah Reyna
    D. Quinn and Cavan Sullivan
    E. Jesus and Santiago Ferreira
    F. Cade and Chance Cowell

I'm sure I'm forgetting half a dozen others...

Big advantage to the Aaronson brothers as they're the closest to both being in the USMNT pool right now... by that same logic I put the Tillman brothers second, also the only duo where the younger brother reached it first, but unique circumstance with them both playing for German youth teams.

In most cases both players won't both reach that level, we've had plenty of those other the years, Beasleys, McCartys... sometimes both don't get there, Valentins, Farfans... the Roldans on different national teams... the Sands brothers are likely in this group with one being fringe and the other unlikely to ever get to that level, which is why I didn't list them above.

Maybe MLS needs to set up a development academy in DR. There are 80 Dominicans in MLB, so they're obviously athletic.

I'd like to see the Dominican Republic and Dominica become soccer powers just to confuse people.

Gitau Brothers, Carrera Brothers, and Craig Brothers are three others I would add to this discussion.

Gomez brothers could also be added, although it's possible they end up playing for Mexico.

I just read that people from the Dominican Republic are Dominicans while people from Dominica are Domin[ee]cans.

Dominican Republic definitely has been helped by American dual nationals in this tournament, though I do agree their overall program needs a ton of work at the senior level. Not that we are at any risk of losing him, but Paredes is also eligible for Dominican Republic. Interestingly if you go by Census numbers they are in the top 20 overall in terms of diasporas in the US.

    By CONCACAF country

    Mexico-38.5 million
    Canada-3.1 million
    El Salvador-2.7 million
    Cuba-2.6 million
    Dominican Republic-2.4 million
    Guatemala-1.5 million
    Haiti-1.2 million
    Jamaica-1.1 million
    Honduras-1 million
    Trinidad-220,000
    Panama-200,000
    Costa Rica-150,000

    Poor Nico and Antonio Carrera..............................

If you're just going to give me those options I'll go with the Aaronsons.

    We're small fry.
Kolo and Yaya Toure both had over 100 caps for the Ivory Coast.

How many dual nationals are in this Dominican team? I took a look through and didn't see anyone.

Azcona, Valdez, Boatwright (injured) are dual Yanks. They also have 2 players in Italy & one in Spain who might be duals.

A 2.Bundesliga CB and a goalkeeper (by far the toughest position to get USMNT caps for obvious reasons) who isn't the starter for our U-20s even with Slonina not on the roster.

All five pairs of siblings that I named, one has USMNT caps already. Ranking based on that, next on the list would be the Sands brothers because James is getting caps and will likely continue to get some. But I don't think anyone expects to see Will Sands in a national team jersey, maybe some random January camp at some point in his career. Nico could get some caps in the future but for Antonio that is a tough path even if he has a really good career.

One of? Early hype had him better than Gio

We know that early hype means little. I recently saw a tweet or post that mentioned the 2nd episode of the Scuffed podcast. In it they speculated about whether Andrew Carlton or Timothy Weah would be better.

I think someone mentioned Alvarado is with him. He may actually have one work out for once.

I think Gio was always more hyped. Maybe there was a throwaway comment or two, but I don't think the consensus ever had him better than Gio at this level. I watched both as a U-14 with the U-15's, and while you could tell Joah had potential Gio's impact on games was higher and his game was further along.

Wolff played like a guy who knows he ain‘t going to the WC, so he was gonna get his.

If there is a player who looked a clear step below it was him IMHO.
    Is he also Josh‘s son?

The Austin Wolff looks better than him. Isn‘t he eligible?
