Aside from the fact we won? And the team played great? I am not sure... But I know MR. Mohammed from the front office amazingly had a problem with a few. (More on this later its not worth ruining a great win over! But he somehow thought that: OLSEN WMD: WEAPON OF METRO DESTRUCTION --conveyed a bomb threat to the crowd. (Don't ask me... this is what he told us... We eventually pleased him by taking out the WMD line... ) And with: BEER CUP ATLANTIC CUP MLS CUP TWO DOWN ONE TO GO --We learned from him that "Beer Cup" was not family friendly enough to have displayed at RFK... Despite the fact that it was right next to a BUDWEISER sign and hung ABOVE A BUD delivery truck!! ) He told us it had to come down... Ignoring that fact that a fan had spent many hours working on it. We told him HE could take it down. For some reason it never came down --Anyway... We're United and its not a big deal but there were a lot of extremly loyal supporters more then a little dissapointed with the team over the whole thing.
Just wanted to say that all the banners looked f'n great.... Great job to everyone that worked on them. They were all over and I'm sure the players will have quite a bit to say about them. Can't wait to see what next week's look like. Dougg LN
maybe we'll add white into cards choreo. And actually take pictures without messing up focus on camera
Yeah, it looked great, props to all of us that spent HOURS, DAYS heck lost sleep over these things! But well worth the effort. Apparently Nelsen was out before the game checking them all out and let out a few chuckles. Other then the whining from the front office, didn't hear anything bad. I hope the Scum enjoyed all the banners made in their honor. As for next week, well, today will tell the story. GO REVS!
FWIW- after all of us left to go tailgating, Susan and Jimmy were redoing the Olsen one (was told just to remove the WMD part) they noticed others were being blown away so went around the entire stadium redoing the tape on every banner. Props to them for doing that while the rest of us were getting drunk. Anyway, Ryan came on the pitch by himself and stood in the middle of the field and went all the way around the stadium and read the banners. I know Dema saw the Dema's House of Pain one I made so that made me happy. I'm not sure if everyone else got a chance to really look at them. Eitherway, I'm sure the Metro supporters noticed them and that's the important thing as well.
I must commend all the folks who spent their time and money creating the banners. They were awesome.... Additionally, I must commend DCU for collaborating with these hard-working individuals and permitting these folks to come in and hang the banners. I know it kind of blows when DCU makes editorial (and censuring) dictates. But, I think it's important to have a productive environment to continue to create the entertaining atmosphere (like last night). I figure someone will comment about my choice of words - "permit" but banners could be banned (go ask Philly - IIRC). Thanks again for those folks - job well done!
since we're having another game at RFK and more great banners... can we replace the 'Piotr Kochamy Was' with 'Kochamy Piotra'? loved the banner and i'm sure the Nowak understood the sentiment, but the grammer was a little off anyway, GREAT job on all the signs!!!
Certainly, I think it would be nice to have a more accurate translation for Piotr! And Vicky, no worries, we can figure something out for making banners for next week, you and Dave deserve a break for sure. Rob
UGHHHH....now I have the OLD Mickey D commercial in my head.... "You deserve a break today....at McDonalds" Yeah, I just dated myself.... but us 20 year olds are notorious for that!!! No worries....I would/will do it again.......the only sweat worth sweating is for DCU!!!! Vicky
