Here are some numbers I came up with when comparing the Cullen-Joseph, Hernandez-Cullen, and Hernandez-Joseph pairings in central midfield. Obviously these numbers are affected by other factors outside of these 3 players (rest of the Rev lineup, opponent, home/away, time left in the game, etc.), but I still think that they're pretty telling: Gm. # - Pairing: (min., score) 1 - DH-LC: 100, 1-1 2 - DH-LC: 45, 0-1; LC-SJ: 45, 1-1 3 - LC-SJ: 90, 2-1 4 - LC-SJ: 64, 0-2; SJ-DH: 26, 0-0 5 - LC-SJ: 58, 0-0; SJ-DH: 32, 2-0 6 - LC-SJ: 55, 0-0; SJ-DH: 45, 1-1 7 - SJ-DH: 90, 3-0 8 - LC-SJ: 45, 1-1; DH-LC: 45, 2-1 9 - DH-LC: 100, 2-2 Individual Totals: Cullen: 647 minutes, -1 GD (9 GF, 10 GA) Hernandez: 475 minutes, +5 GD (11 GF, 6 GA) Joseph: 550 minutes, +4 GD (10 GF, 6 GA) Pairing Totals: Hernandez-Cullen: 290 minutes, 0 GD (5 GF, 5 GA) Cullen-Joseph: 357 minutes, -1 GD (4 GF, 5 GA) Joseph-Hernandez: 193 minutes, +5 GD (6 GF, 1 GA)
DH not to say i told you so, but . . . i told you so. DH is the best midfielder on this team (though i admit that joseph is more than i originally thought, but still no dh)
Beautiful job, Justin Mike, there is no meaningful difference between Joseph and Hernandez in these numbers. They do not support the argument that Daniel is a better midfielder.
Hernandez: 475 minutes, +5 GD (11 GF, 6 GA) Joseph: 550 minutes, +4 GD (10 GF, 6 GA) Hernandez-Cullen: 290 minutes, 0 GD (5 GF, 5 GA) Cullen-Joseph: 357 minutes, -1 GD (4 GF, 5 GA) i know it's not a huge difference, but the few times i'm sorta right i grab what i can . . . .
