I live in eastern Nassau County and NYRB is my local team. It takes about 70 minutes of train time from Hicksville to Harrison using 3 trains: LIRR to NYP, NJT from NYP to NWKP, Path from NWKP to Harrison. If you check schedules, the waiting time is not much. As for the name, it never really bothered me because I never liked MetroStars. But I've gotten used to it, and the bottom line is the NYRB is my local team, and I want to show support for them, for MLS and for soccer in the USA. In my personal opinion, I do not think that the vast number of soccer fans in the NYC area will support a NYC based MLS team after the first year. If you disguise the team with the "Cosmos" name, then maybe the NYC based MLS team will get support for 2 years. But deep down, NYC soccer fans generally have soccer allegiances in other lands, and MLS doesn't give them the soccer kick they want. I could be wrong, and if there is a NYC based MLS team I will accept them and support them as my second local team.
