Comments from Ellinger, Players after qualification I'm impressed with the way the team took responsibility for the mediocre performance in game 2 and set out to do something about it. I think Ellinger pushed the right buttons and applied the right tactics today. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/NationalTeams/1047263689/view Could it be a team of destiny?
Perhaps the moderators here could change the title of this spoiler for those who didn't know the score.
How can you post here and not know the score? If the matchtracker says that Freddy is slow getting up, this board is on the verge of a breakdown.
Freddy Adu (on switching roles with Gonzalez in the first half): "I wanted to do that. I know if I can get going that guy who was marking me cannot hang with me. I was trying to get the first step on that guy every time we got the ball. Confident son of a ...... I'm starting to really like this kid.
i'll never ever understand people's obssesions with spoilers here. NO ONE, no one in the continental US is or was going to be able to see this game?!
Re: Comments from Ellinger, Players after qualification Gers give it up. Look at the article you quoted: "Overall the U.S. team played better, but it was still an average performance as a team. They worked hard. The defense and particularly the goalkeeper were outstanding. The midfield and the forwards are still not connecting. Guatemala was not a very strong opponent to be honest. The three matches in five days seemed to affect them more." Playing average against a weak opponent is not indicative of a team of destiny. It seems like we have a good group of kids. Lets see how they do in Finland against ROW.
Re: Re: Comments from Ellinger, Players after qualification with memo, adu and gaven in attacking positions i think they will be alright
Real Opponent Winners? Rowdy opposition wussies? Really Odd Wankers? Riotous Opposing Wingbacks? Richie O. Williams? It's late, i'm not making sense anymore with these guesses. Kill the suspense and tell us the truth.
I'm thinking he meant ROW Rest Of the World, but it's just a guess, it' could have been Richie Odysseus Williams.
Re: Re: Comments from Ellinger, Players after qualification I'm pretty sure that GersMan actually wrote the article too, so I'd think that he'd know what was in it. Just a thought.
Well, no one would doubt Richie was a U-17 based on his height ... He'd be a great addition to the squad. Very few U-17 teams can field someone with a decade of professional experience.
Maybe we should start a petition drive, asking FIFA to allow 1 overage player at the U17 World Championship, so long as the player is in the lower percentiles of the existing team's range of height. Dave MN is correct, it wasn't me. Brihodge - I use my own name when I write. and come on Dan Roudebush - let a guy have his fun with a winning team man . The guy who wrote that is a great guy, but hypercritical anyway . The team had a combined scoreline of 7-1. I was just impressed that despite all of that, they still feel like they can do that much better. But to be honest, I will confess to having no idea if this is a team of destiny. So to the degree I was engaging in hype, I repent. Please don't hold it against me.
Dedeum.... etc. Your forgiven. Your other posts are too good not too. Besides I shoot from the hip a lot myself. ROW= Rest of the world. Used in biotech marketing a lot.
May seem silly, but some people like to read PBP threads unspoiled. Occasionally, although probably not in this case, you can listen to archived radio webcasts of games as well.
I concur. Reading PBP can be quite exciting, whether they be live or not. I can still remember reading the PBP threads that Andy_B provided for us for the U-17 Championship. The games against Mexico and Australia were quite riveting. So yeah, when I got to reading the Guatemala PBP I already knew that the US had won or at least tied based on the title of this thread. Not a big deal. But still.....
Wow, that was a long time ago when Big Soccer was still taking its first steps (it may have been been called soccerboards.com back then) I still remember it though. Great tournament and great to see all that wonderful talent for the first time. I still remeber "calling" the PK's in the semi's. Brutally emotional stuff having to put into words Cutler's knock over the bar... Andy
Who else is in the U17 WC and who are the top teams suppose to be? I would imagine Argentina and Brazil, but after that I have no clue.
