Friday the 14th. I know for one I am up for it. The tickets are free and it will give us a warm-up for the preseason road trips. All cauldronites should sign-up to go. If they want us to be like we usually are we need to find out tailgate info or a place to meet up before hand. Many of the chants already done can be easily converted to the Comets.

Lets start taking bets on how many times the flag flies.

    I am saying- 6

That Friday is the start of spring break for my kids. I've cheered with the Mystics, but never joined. How are they handling new Mystics and tickets?

Just an idea at this point.

I cant make it for St. Pats because UM-Rolla (my alma mater) has a unique St. Pats celebration. The week of St. Pats the school has Thursday and Friday off. There are parties Tue., Wed. Thu., Fri, and Sat. nights. Basically the whole college is drunk for 5-6 days. Yes, Monday March 17 is the actual St. Pats Day, but March 12-16 is St. Pats in Rolla.

Don't get me wrong, a preseason warmup with the Cauldron would be fun, but St. Pats in Rolla is once a year and theres nothing like it.

Mar 14 is a bad day. I would love to go but I have to go back to Q-town that weekend. Man this sucks. How about a different game? I would really like for us to represent.

    Where seated

I have read some of the concerns,... things I will work on today, getting you free parking in a designated spot so you can get the pre-game festivities going,

As far as the seats I would love to offer Battlezone seats but there are actually alot of season ticket holders down there. I promise you this, you will be as close to the field as I can get you, and that should be plenty close for the opposing bumbs to hear you. Lastly I'll request they chill out on the corn ball music, as long as you provide plenty chanting and drums.... especially the DRUMS I dont know why but they are geeked out at the thought of y'all with the drums. SPREAD THE WORD!!!!

Drums hey, well maybe if you just looking for drums mabye you should be contacting the remains of the Samba band.
One thing is for sure I do not know how you guys are going to do this becuase it is a whole differant game and the passion isn't there. Good luck none the less.

I was talking to Calida about this, and she just goes to the games to stare at Chris Klein and she says.....

"You guys just set there all tense waiting for that one or two goals a game and then go crazy. What are you going to do at a Comets game, go nuts every two minutes?..."

    She gets it.

Ben, I know I'm biased, but when I read this I had to laugh. Nobody is married to outdoor soccer only. The above is a little like saying you prefer only having sex once a week because more might make it less enjoyable.

    I dunno...as I'm not married, I'll take my chances with the multiply-orgasmic pseudo-nymph behind door #2. :)

Indoor soccer takes the specialness out of goals. If you want to refer it to sex go ahead. I would rather have one or two mindblowing orgasms, then four little ones. Those little ones just leave you feeling unsatisfied.

Yeah...and? Who dictated that all MLS goals equate to "mind-blowing" and all MISL goals are somehow lesser? Not me. Why not tweak your perception a hair and consider the merits of "who you are with at the moment". Nobody is married to one game.

Also, it's easy to pick out an unsatisfying "little one" by just recalling the debacle of Molnar's Cup winner. Function over form, eh? That, my friends, might have been the worst MLS goal scored all year. I still went nuts watching, but it doesn't hold up in any way to Molnar's winner to end LA.

In 1983, the MISL's All-Star game was at Kemper. My own parents wouldn't take me so I had to draft a friend and his Dad. Stan "The Man" Stamenkovic scored one of the more memorable goals I have ever seen on any level. Stan scored by dribbling through and around 4 defenders while holding and shielding the ball in the penalty area for what seemed like impossibly forever before beating the West's keeper with a perfect post shot. The crowd was in awe-inspired silence for longer than a moment before erupting. Consider KC was a West team and the East was treated as a hated road visitor for by the 14,000 fans the whole game. Literally, it was the same crowd reaction as when Bo Jackson nailed some poor idiot at third by throwing an impossible 315 ft. lazer from the right field corner.

I only mention this to point out that everyone has the capability to enjoy a lesser quality goal just as much as a Roberto Carlos 70mph banana from deep. Also lesser quality goals are not unique to lesser leagues. It's about how you perceive it. Oh BTW, the score from the Comet's last game was 10-6.

    David:
I think it comes down to this...

I am flipping through my Direct TV and spot the Comets playing on FSW. I pause to watch, because its "soccer". I watch for a few moments, and continue flipping. It just doesn't interest me, it doesnt feel like soccer to me.
All this talk of marriage, sex, Bo Jackson, Roberto Carlos, etc has nothing to do with it. It just doesnt feel like soccer when I see it.

Dave, I realize that my example of orgasms and soccer arent the best, but I am trying to explain it to you in a way that you understand, because you are simply not understanding anything anyone else is saying.

Let me put it in another way, when the comets score the first goal I know that they will have to score 2 or more goals to get the win. When the Wizards score the first goal, I know that is all they need to get the win. It the specialness of the goals that makes the game seem watered down when compared to outdoor.

I think that it is like comparing apples to oranges. Each game is different even though they are both soccer. Apples and oranges are both fruits, but they taste differently. It all depends on what your taste is. Some people like the rapid fire goals of indoor and some like the flow of the outdoor game. Any way you look at it, you are still going to be comparing two totally different things. The only comparison you can make is that both involve a soccer ball and a net. If you get down to it that is about all there is in common.

I get the view and no, I do not understand it. You want to tell me it's the level of player...OK, that I buy.

Of course the games are different. Still, the difference is much closer to limited overs cricket and cricket than baseball and football.

The main thing to get across is that whatever your reason for watching any sport; you CAN find that at an MISL game.

Yeah that's sort of like saying...

I'm not really a fan of sex, Other than a few times a week in Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring.

    or

I'm not really a fan of sweets, other than Twix bars, Big League Chew, Ho Ho's and Fun Dip.

You guys might consider revising your claims about not being sports fans. You pretty much are following something year round. ;)
