Next stop - another 20 million illegals who now know that both the GOP and the Dems love illegals and want to reward them for all of their diligent work in breaking our laws.

My only question is why Bush has any supporters left. The guy is a disaster, total disaster. I hope the Dems impeach him.

Look, illegal immigration -- or, rather, uncontrollable immigration -- will always be an intractable problem in this country. Why? Because as long as you have desperate poor people in Sonora, Chad, Haiti, Nigeria, the Sudan, and porous borders in the open socieity that is the United States, they are going to come.

It's the height of folly to think that any governmental organization -- especially CONGRESS -- can put a stop to it, or will it away with a piece of legislation.

    So, what do you do?

First, you make a REAL effort to build a secure border and entry points.

Second, you make a REAL effort to find illegals already here. (Newt Gingrich's tactic of "sending them all a FedEx package, and see who signs for it" would cost a mere $120 million, and we'd probably locate a third of them). For the illegals we find who are already here, and who are not working, we deport them and all members of their immediate families, assuming they too are illegal.

For those who are working, we give them a 3-year guest worker pass. Must be renewed with proof of employment in the form of pay stubs/W2s.

    No job? You're deported.

Oh, and anyone who has entered this country illegally can NEVER get citizenship.

Finally, employers who knowingly hire illegals will be fined $10,000 for each illegal on the payroll.

And we slowly, methodically, over two decades or so, get control of this as best we can, understanding it will never be perfect and never be complete.

And, of course, President Disastro has no intention of doing any of that. Nor the majority in either house of congress.

They'll give out the goodies easily enough - the no-fault visas and such. After enough caterwauling, they'll waive the $5,000 (or when Hillary is elected)

The real fence will turn into a "virtual fence," which is code for no fence at 5 times the cost.

Employer sanctions will likewise be dropped as soon as they need some campaign cash - which means next year.

This is infuriating, and I could see it coming a mile away. President Disastro has been trying for this for a few years, and his only obstacle was some recalcitrants in his own party. Now they're marginalized and the path is clear.

Bush is an abomination. Worse the Carter. If Hillary is elected, you can thank dubya for totally discrediting the GOP.

Here is what I don't get: leftist claim that illegals are needed because Americans won't do those jobs - then how were lawns being cut, constructionb being done, tables being bussed before the illegal immigration explosion of the 70's?

And since the WSJ has refuted every argument the leftist have about illegals helping the economy, why do hey keep spouting economic benefits as a reason to endorse illegal workers?

Lou Dobbs and CNN have also ran quite a few shows with statistics showing illegals commit an absurdly high amount of violent crime (especially in - but not limited to - Los Angeles).

I don't understand how environmentalist are now saying population control is key in fighting global warming but leftit want an extra 12 million people here?

But then there are those on the far left who think whitey stole this land whitey has no right saying who can and can't come to this land since it doesn't belong to whitey. This is paraphrased from someone on bigsoccer who really believes this. So why have laws at all?

The other issue with illegal immigration -- the one that the leftists conveniently ignore -- is that with its overwhelming influx of LOW skilled workers, illegal immigration INCREASES poverty in the USA.

This is an irony that lefties are intellectually incapable of grasping. They recoil in horror at the poverty "stats" every time they come out, and yet cheer when the scruffy illegal and his jug of water saunters across the border.

Immigrants with low skill levels have a high probability of poverty and of receiving benefits and services that drive up governmental welfare, health, social service, and education costs.

And, of course, the fiscal impact is huge. The low-skilled immigrant will absorb dollars from the taxpayer, while paying back little.
