see... this forum is titled "major league soccer"

there is another one, inside of this one titled "news & analysis"

so wouldn't ya think that this would have belonged in there?

Amen brother. It's gotten to the point where I don't even bother trying to keep up with the 50 forums I used to be able to surf by going to three.

The reason I didn't was because it was opinionated. It wasn't like MLS announcing new league guidelines. I understand that would go in News and Analysis.

don't catch much in the way of news... do ya?

ever notice how all news has a slant provided by the person who wrote (&/or spoke) the piece?

it's all opinionated... quit worrying about whether or not it belongs in the n&anal section and throw it in there

the more you worry, the more anal it gets

that's how the ship floats, that's why people are looking through every forum instead of being able to get by on just a couple

Whatever. That's lame justification. Too trigger-happy, methinks.

Where did I imply being worried? I just put it there because thats where I thought I went. Its not a big deal.

    it's damned annoying actually

insteading of providing a central source for everything... you (and many, many, many others)... opt to put all information wherever the feather drops

making everyone search every forum, every thread (not that bad, but enough to be annoying)

that implies you were worried, because you came up with a "reasonable" reason as to why news shouldn't go in the news and anal forum

if what you said was what got into news and anal... it would simply be the rules of mls

    boring

this is general... wide and speculative conjecture... flights of fancy

news and anal is providing all the views for all to see, that a piece is opinionated is a given... everything is, everything is written by man... it's merely a question of whether or not it's a source or yourself making up stuff as you go along

jim, who are you to define exactly what does and doesn't belong in each forum?

you're so full of yourself i'm surprised you don't explode.

talk about annoying. you're by far the most annoying person on these boards...

...as much as i sometimes appreciate your enthusiasm and devotion to american soccer.

The big problem is that whatever mysterious guidelines that inform the decision-making are not uniformly employed, so if you look at the MLS (general) header, there are plenty of news-focused threads subordinate to it. The other big problem is overzealous moderators.

Maybe the solution to the first problem is to get rid of the MLS news & analysis threads and put it all in a general MLS thread. I mean, c'mon, there isn't THAT much going on in MLS to require so much subdivision!

Maybe that would lead (through fewer threads) to fewer overzealous moderators?

    Agreed.

My main complaint here is that the headline is too flipping generic. "Oliu looks at 2003 on MLSnet" perfectly conveys the gist of it better than this thread's lame title.

You could, of course, come up with something somewhat more creative and funny like "Oliu on MLSnet begging for tickets" or "Oliu column: Why look back when you can look forward?" or "Hot naked XXX chicks for you!"

i never said it didn't belong in here as well (or shouldn't be in here)... but the general concept is that news and analysis go to n&anal... so i strongly stated that it should have been thrown there

too many people have let the *occassional* (sp?) over moderating of that forum (and others) get to them...

i'd rather doubt i'm the most annoying person on the boards... which isn't to say i'm not annoying, lord knows, i can be... it just isn't going to bother me to say something that i think should be said, even if it means i'll go over the top to say it... but to each his/her own

and to please paul, i liked the piece (although there could have been more blood ;))
