So who would you rather play? If it's Kansas City the game will be at TOYOTA Park, so I'd be able to attend the game that gets us to MLS CUP 2008 (And I think it would be a easier path to MLS CUP, not just because it's at home) If it's Columbus, the only thing that sucks is it's going to be on Thursday and I wouldn't be able to attend the game that gets us to MLS CUP (We have a pretty good record at TOYOTA Park east 8-5-5, so I think we will WIN there also). So for rhe fact that I want to be at the game, I'm going with Kansas City (A soldout crowd watching us beat the crap out of Kansas City and getting to MLS CUP 2008 against whoever I don't care).
If we do end up going to Columbus, please everyone, consider joining on the bus. The itinerary will suck. Leaving around 10AM, going to Columbus, coming back right after the game and arriving around 2AM. You'll feel like shit the next day at work, but road trips are ALWAYS fun as hell. That said, go KC.
It doesn't matter to me who's season we end...just that we do... Alright, I'll flip a coin...(heads = cows/ tails = wiz) *flipping* Heads, cows...
It would look better for MLS to show another 17K+ in the stands instead of 2K for the Screw. Many of which would be Fire fans on the express bus to celebration land. Go KC.
Okay, I put my money where my mouth is. Here is the odds from betus.com Rot # Team Handicap Moneyline Total Team Total 7:30p 954 Columbus Crew -½ -150 -155 2½ O -125 U -105 1½ O -150 U +110 Draw +250 955 Kansas City Wizards +½ +120 +350 1 O Ev U -140 (Mod: please fix the table paste). KC will pay off nicely on a straight bet win. If anyone wants to join betus.com mention my real name or PM me and I'll send you an invite letter.
another home game is what i want..... that was one of the top games ive ever attended.... ill gladly make the trip from Indy to see it again... heck, ill make the trip to CLB to see the fire play...
I want another home game too, but I doubt we'd get much over 10k. The front office would have less than a week to sell tickets after the game is officially scheduled. Last time we hosted the conference final was 2003 after a having a good crowd of 15-18k in the first round. We had around 10k for the conference final vs. NE. Maybe things are different 5 years later with Blanco, but I doubt we'd match the first round attendance either way.
I would guess a minimum of 15K. Blanco playing, a game away from the championship, would definitely make a difference.
if we could get 18k on four days' notice for the playoffs last year, we can pull 15 on five for the conference final. BTW we had nearly 15k for that 2003 conference final.
Ah, you're right . . . I remembered it being smaller. Still, I wouldn't expect us to match the first game's attendance. 15k may be reasonable.
Score warning!!! Well looks like will be playing in Columbus on Thursday Columbus is winning 2-0 in the 66th minute.
I hear the North End chanting "Bring on the Fire" in the 80th minute. Hell, yeah, bring 'em on. We'll take them and their tinker toy stadium apart!
[R]... The Crew currently with a 2-0 lead with just a few minutes to go. So the Fire will be in Columbus next week, where the Crew hasn't lost a game in five months. The Fire v. Crew is a good matchup: Each team managed to come from behind at home to eek out a 2-2 draw in the regular season. The teams played a USOC game in Peoria where the Fire gave up a lead but pulled out a win in extra time. Fire stars Jon Busch and Brian McBride both played in Colorado and Chris Rolfe, who does very well at Crew Stadium, grew up rooting for the team. Sigi was the LA coach when that team won a double (SS & MLS Cup) in 2002, so he has more experience in big games than Hamlett. Two DP candidates for MVP face eachother for a trip to the final. Columbus has never won MLS Cup, and the Fire haven't won it since their inaugural year.
Columbus got a lot of yellows. Anyone out for the Conference Final? EDIT: Looks like they will be full strength. Padula and Carroll were the only players at risk. By the way, WTF is a Padula?
Thanks for that. I thought about looking it up, but didn't have the gumption. Let's be honest, though, a win in Columbus right now is going to take a very good effort from the guys. We can do it, but we have to play our best to make it happen. The Fire have scored twelve goals in the past five games and are coming off of back to back shutouts. But this team has been very inconsisten this year. To win MLS Cup, we need three straight wins. That's only happened once for the Fire in MLS play this year. The Crew, one the other hand, have enjoyed three game, four game, and five game winning streaks this season. On the third hand, they played a full strenth team at the Red Bulls and lost 3-1 a few days before we pounded that team 5-2.
******** the game is going to be on Thursday night, that sucks I won't be able to go (But I hope section bring a ton of people, because they only got 11,153 to a Saturday night they'll be lucky to get 10,000 (More like 8,000) for a Thursday night game). GO FIRE win one at TOYOTA Park east, and get us in MLS CUP 2008, because if we get to MLS CUP 2008 I'll be at that game.
"The Crew, one the other hand, have enjoyed three game, four game, and five game winning streaks this season. On the third hand, they played a full strenth team at the Red Bulls and lost 3-1 a few days before we pounded that team 5-2." You don't know what you're talking about. Columbus rested 5 or 6 starters in that meaningless RBNY game.
It's part of the Padula Oblongata, a part of your brain that makes you really good at soccer, and your team nearly invincible when you start at LB. Anyway, the two best teams in the East face off, and most recent Conference Championships have not showcased the two best teams. This year, they do. Chicago was the only team the Crew didn't beat this year in MLS play (and we lost to you in the Open Cup as well).
Admittedly, I don't know the Crew lineup as well as some others, but they did play Schelotto for the full 90 minutes, so I figured they were trying to win. Guess not. So, apologies all around for stating it was a full strength team.
