My wife bought a PrimeBlue Crew jersey and I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the fitted hat with the 96 instead of the nacho. We'll be stoned by these Realest Fans together.
We were surprised at how much better they looked in person. Had we not gotten a pair of 2020 game-worn jerseys recently....
He insisted the cap have the triangle. You know, I lost to Sirk in the inaugural Realest Fan competition. I could not think of a better fan to best me at that illustrious title.
I hope they fall on their face , I’ll never buy anything with this hideous logo on it . Hope others also boycott it , save the roundel
I understand that Chinese knockoff factories are putting on second shifts to deal with the demand for C logo hats in Thailand, Japan and Rwanda. It's a worldwide tsunami.
I don't understand how not buying anything that that shitty logo on it is in some way an act is disloyalty... or something. It's hideous. Personally, I'd also shy away from buying a jersey if I found the shirt sponsor to be an embarrassment. It's my money, after all. My "vote," if you will, regarding this visual brand will be cast with my bank account. If the market tells the club "people don't like the crest," that's the quickest path toward change. If enough people like it enough to buy stuff with it on display, then they'll stick with it. It's not rocket science.
I know instantly what team every player plays for except the dude who plays for my own team. Global branding!
You guys really forget that we wore all black for the home opener in ‘99? All yellow was only a thing in the mid 2000s for about a decade. Nothing wrong with the all black.
Unlike most clubs, the Crew have two primary colors - black and gold/yellow. While I always think our black jerseys look good, it's the yellow that distinguished us from other clubs. There has always been at least one other club in the league that primarily wears black (now, more than one, of course). Anyway, our history of wearing all yellow goes back more than 20 years. I'm glad to hear we'll be wearing one again next year. Too bad it'll be tainted by that cartoonish crest, but hopefully that'll be something the club moves away from in a few years.
And the alternate/away shirt was white. If people want a return to our historical uniforms, we're now closer to that than we've been in 20 years. I love the yellow too but the current jerseys are hardly an outrage against our roots.
I like the concept, but I do wish teams could customize the "accent" color to align with their actual colors. For example, instead of orange lettering, the Crew have yellow. Or on the lighter jerseys, someone like an RSL could do red lettering. Not a make or break deal, just when I see the ones the Crew wore this year I thought NYCFC or FCC before it hit me it's the team I like.
Yes, I agree that would be nice. But, as we all know: adidas sucks and we (MLS) take what they give us.
Yet another version of the crest: With the names outside of the pennant shape, there has to be a background on which the whole thing rests, at least in physical form. Like on the jerseys, where presumably a single patch gets affixed to the shirt. So will something like this be the actual shape of the physical patch?
They learned that you can't have floating text around a logo and have it work on variety of applications. Something that is really beginner in these types of designs can tell you.
OMG - just when you thought they couldn't make it worse....they did it! Everyone has been saying this all along. It is clear whoever they used to design the logo wasn't qualified. There are a dozen or more technical issues professional designers have pointed out. At this point ownership has to see them right? They would be so much better served to scrap it all right now. If they have some shit in stadium that will have logo, fine put it in there. But just go back to circle - because it worked - and was AWESOME!
Well, this may not even be an official version of the crest. It appeared in this tweet: LAST CHANCE: Register by Midnight to have your name on your bib!https://t.co/zYdRC09VD4 Register now to make sure you have your name on your bib for the inaugural Columbus Crew Black & Gold 5K presented by OhioHealth on Sunday, June 27!#Crew96 #ForColumbus #M3SSports #6Run4 pic.twitter.com/cvz87DGlvk— M3S Sports (@M3SSports) June 7, 2021 Did the Crew provide M3S Sports, which "produces world-class road races such as OhioHeath Capital City Half Marathon, Ohio State 4 Miler and OhioHealth Emerald City Half & Quarter Marathon" with this graphic? Or did M3S Sports just edit it to work on the 5K race ad they'd already worked up? Either way, it's all amateur hour bullshit.
