Ya, but eventually you must do something, and you can't fire the whole team. The coach has to go in these situations. If you want to change, and who wouldn't, it's about the only solution.
Got to give Shuttleworth a lot of credit today - he came up huge for the Revs, stoning Powers on that breakaway and I'm pretty sure there was a great save on a header. But otherwise, this isn't the USMNT and friendlies where the results don't matter. I don't care that we've had some great opportunities and could arguably be looking at 6 points in this last two matches if things bounce a little differently. We've had 0 goals in the last 10 hours of play and 0 wins in the last 27 hours of play. Someone has to be held responsible. I think Bravo and Hinchey absolutely need to go, and Pablo... honestly, I feel bad for Pablo. He might have potential as a coach, but he was thrown into the fire just after retiring with a terrible FO. I don't think he should ever have been made head coach of this team, but I would feel bad firing him because Bravo / Hinchey screwed up in hiring him in the first place.
Not proud of it, but at this stage my son and I find ourselves rooting against the Rapids- if you are going to be bad, be historically bad.
Oh, and the Rapids have another chance to set a futility record next week. If we don't score in Dallas in the first 24 minutes it will be a league record for longest scoreless drought to start a season (384 minutes, TFC 2007)
I'm not ready to give up on Pablo yet. You can only say the players are unlucky so many times. They need to score. They've had plenty of good chances. Yeah, Shuttleworth made a nice save on Powers today, but Powers should have scored that. Keep it on the ground more than a foot away from the keeper and it goes in. Plenty of chances in the four games so far that should have been scored ended up being kicked right at the keeper. I know it's easy for me to say that while I'm sitting on my couch, but the players are pros and they should have finished some of the chances. That's not Pablo's fault.
Coach John McKay at a Tampa Bay Buccaneers press conference, 1976: Question; "What do you think of the team's execution?" McKay: (after a long pause) "I'm for it."
FWIW, MLS has us as matching the longest winless streak in MLS history. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ds-0-new-england-revolution-2-mls-match-recap
This team isn't so bad that it should take you a year to get a result. FO may be good or bad, I don't know, but there must be several college coaches that could get a result with this team. If there is a game plan, it's not being executed correctly. Both the lack of a plan or lack of execution falls at the coaches feet.
This years team seems to be a better bad team then last years. My only consolation I suppose is this year I'm getting my money's worth.
Holy shit, this team sucks! There is no good players at all..Period! The coach sucks! a full overhaul is urgently required.. Maybe I'm just frustrated.
I almost never post in another teams forum but I just wanted to say a couple of things The attack that finished the game was very dangerous and unlucky. Stay with that group and you'll start scoring goals. Your team is not that bad. You're better than some we've played. It will turn around soon. Your attack is good. I never liked Pablo much as a player but got a big kick out of the stash... That picture of the bag heads with the drawn stashes is funny as Hell
Had to think about it for a while. A couple of thoughts: - Possibly the worst ref seen in a decade plus of watching soccer. He made the FIFA ref in the US v Slovenia ref in the 2010 World Cup look like a genius - I liked the pressing and the attacking this match. The unlucky finishing continues ... how many 1 v 1s have we had that haven't resulted in goal? How many posts were hit yesterday? - Watts would benefit from time in Charlotte - Not ready to call for a moving van but PB and PM need to FTSO now
Same here. I thought the rapids had a lot of good chances and gave our boys a run for the money. On a side note, I had a new drinking game where I took a shot anytime the our commentator mentioned 'altitude'. I was drunk by the first goal....
Folks...there is a difference between being unlucky every game, and not being able to finish. We do not have true finisher. Out of position, poor shot placement, and lack of attacking mentality. It doesn't help how defensive we play either. Enough unlucky crap, a true goal scorer would have buried at least 2 yesterday.
