Ya, its cause the Rapids and MLS have a contract with Adidas. And they change the template of the kit every two years. But there is also theory that they might be getting a sponsor as well. Time will tell. But new inventory won't be available until mid January I heard, if not later.
No word, but the sale isn't that much of a surprise. Bad economy, offseason, and a new wave of stuff to stock next season regardless of rebranding or not. Not to mention that Adidas pumps out MLS jersey designs on a 2 year schedule. So regardless of a rebranding our jersey will most likely change in some way next season.
They are due for a new color scheme I mean it's been 2 years now those things get old. So probably Aresenal Red with white sleeves that sounds about right. No sponsor though, that makes too much sense.
Word on the street is that there were potential sponsors in the crowd for the game against FSL last month. They are holding a series of meetings and we may have an announcement around the middle of February, if they can all come to an agreement.
All you folks in the organized supporters groups- this is the best way for you all to get placed together in the area behind the goal. A sponsor could cover any potential lost revenue by naming the section for supporters groups and adding a little signage.
True, but the Rapids are so secretive with things like that it would be impossible to set anything up by then. Although things are improving. Im glad to hear that meetings are possibly being set up. This is a nice thing to hear, some extra revenue for the club is always a plus. Maybe they can get rid of Celtic Heritage Night, or something else retarded like that!!
Would be sweet. Instead of the name of the brewery on the front, they could just have the New Belgium bicycle ...and give away free samples of their new products at the games.
Don't we think that if the rapids were going to get a deal done, they would have done it by now? I don't forsee anything happening on this in the near future.
Especially with their jersey design with the "RAPIDS" and "COLORADO" on the front. And there's not even a hint of a rumor of the Rapids looking for someone. But if they were to go with a team, I think Coors would be the best choice. The name says Colorado and they aren't going to fold anytime soon. Even in a depression, people will still drink beer. Maybe even more of it!
Well the Rapids don't leak much of anything, they like to be VERY secretive on everything. It would be nice to tug away a few rumors from them, just to make this off season more talkative around the club in particular. But I have heard nothing except from The Doc on these very boards...
From talking to alot of people within the FO they all seem to have the same idea when it comes to a sponsorship. Most of them agree it is one of the top priorities this off-season. That was in addition to what was said to me about the potential sponsors being at the FSL game and what not.
Well, teddy, I think what Bonji is saying is that having a jersey sponson would bring in a lot of revenue so the Rapids won't give up trying to get one.
not really reading into things but two other teams due new kits are revealing theirs on thursday (Seattle and TFC) but the Rapids who are also due new kits aren't-could they be waiting for a sponsor to reveal theirs........
Well, the cat will ultimately be out of the bag somewhere around the middle of January anyway, as the SuperDraft usually takes place then and the jerseys are all on display. So they ultimately have about 5 weeks to get the sponsor sorted out if they want to make it some grand revealing.
As SoccaJ said, this is too big of a revenue opportunity for the Rapids to pass on it. I know they've talked to firms in the past but haven't gotten a deal done they like. It is only a matter of time.
Jersey's are on a fire sale over at altitude authentics. 40% off on the standard home and away. They're looking to sell because the Rapids are in-line for a new design this next year. That gives the team plenty of reason to push for a jersey sponsor this off-season.
Someone mentioned earlier that the clock is ticking. I'm not sure that's necessarily true...didn't Houston partner up and slap Amigo Energy on their jerseys sometime in mid-season a year or two back? With the amount of money involved in a front of the jersey sponsorship, I don't think it happens until both parties are good and ready, regardless of where the season is.
