Catching up here... 5th min. -- Dunivant booked for a professional foul on Spencer. Conway survives an early test, the ensuing free kick is right at him.
13th min. -- Conway steers Henderson's shot 'round the post, conceding a corner, after Henderson stole from Agoos (a bit too easily, it sounds like, from the webcast I'm listening to). Conway is starting the game strong...
19th min. -- Conway saves well from Carrieri, after some fine work from Beckerman. Colorado with the more serious attacking chances so far...
29th min. -- Conway in right place, right time again, making another save on Spencer (the Scotsman sounded like he was away, and in a good position).
39th min. -- Penalty claims by the Rapids fall on deaf ears after Conway appears to upend Spencer in the penalty area. Corner kick coming up... apparently Conway got a piece of the ball, and voila, no call on the alleged PK.
Quakes are the ones doing the rope-a-dope this game, and they're getting away with it but can't afford any more of those giveaway/breakaways. We could easily see a Quake counterattack goal as Donovan is in his element.
Waibel, in addition to Conway, also getting high marks from the Rapids' radio/webcast announcers. Rapids "with what seems like 70% of the possession" in the first half, announcers noting that the Quakes seem content to defend and counter.
One minute added time... Quakes counter with Corrales, Donovan and Faria, but Garlick scoops the ball up.
The first half ends. The score is:        0        0       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G

The second half begins. The score is still:        0        0       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
55th min. -- Conway with another strong save, after some good work between Spencer and Powell. At this rate, I think we're collectively going to have to owe him an apoology. Previously, shots from Faria and Corrales each went wide. Quakes might be coming into the attacking flow of play a bit more. Is Donovan hurt? That's what I'm hearing on my end... but now, he's coming back in. Appears to be OK.
59th min. -- Donovan shoots right at Garlick. 60th min. -- Spencer taken down at the top of the arc. Free kick coming up... Spencer's free kick is right into the Quakes' wall.
62nd min. -- Quakes continue to absorb pressure, with Henderson shooting over Conway's goal from Powell's feed. 63rd min. -- Ekelund booked, "persistent infringement", most lately grabbed Spencer from behind. Things starting to heat up...
from the MLSnet.com matchtracker: 62:25 SJ -63rd Minute. Yellow Card Issued to 6-Ronnie Ekelund. Foul Type: Persistent Infringement 62:25 SJ -63rd Minute. Foul Committed by 6-Ronnie Ekelund, 1st of match. Foul Suffered by 7-John Spencer, 3rd of match. Card Issued. So here's my question: if it's his first foul how can it be 'Persistent Infringement'? Seems like a contradiction, but who knows?
Arturo Alvarez in for Ronnie Ekelund.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
65th min. -- Donovan shoots high and wide at the end of a quick counter. Rapids announcers discussing Donovan being "soft", point of discussion being how he appears to go down "easily upon contact".
Jamil Walker in for Rodrigo Faria.       GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
wow. another good move. maybe, just maybe, this frank yallop character knows what he's doing after all.
