CU 1 - DU 0 It’s now thirteen in a row for the Buffs v instate rival DU. It was a fairly even match for much of the time with both teams limiting quality chances by the other with last second close downs and blocked shots. CU did have flurries of activity in the box and earned a lot of corners but couldn't break through. The match looked to be headed for a nil - nil draw until Juliuana Heyward was fouled about 20 yards out in the 77th minute. Shyra James took the free kick and hit a scorching worm burner that forced DU’s keeper (Alina Santos) to parry the ball wide where Ava Priest had positioned herself to get to the ball first and buried the rebound. CU managed the rest of the match very well not allowing DU any dangerous opportunities. In the last five minutes or so they were able to hold the ball in the corner multiple times, cutting down the time DU had with the ball. Props to DU’s #3 Micheala McGowan for bottling up CU’s Ava Priest who is very good at setting up her teammates. More often than not, McGowan won the 1 v 1 battle when Priest tried to get to the end line with the ball. For CU, Faith Leyba continues to be a very reliable central defender by both sticking with her mark and closing down on attackers who look to have gotten free. CU v DU could happen again in the NCAA tourney this year. This was the first time I’ve been able to watch in person for about three weeks. CU is now (looks like they started doing this a few weeks ago) going with three on the back line with two wingbacks, three midfielders and a pair of forwards. Senior Phoenix Dawn Miranda has joined Faith Leyba and Greer Maguire on the back line. Starting formation looks like this: H Leyba James Hayward Layne Priest Rosenbaum Gouvin Maguire - F Leyba - Maguire Nytes
CU 2- Weber State 0 An easy win for the Buffs despite not scoring until the 57th minute. Weber State rarely mounted a dangerous attack and when they did get a shot off it was often from long range. On the flip side CU was getting a lot of shots on target, but most of them didn’t challenge the keeper either. Attacking dominance showed up in two other ways for CU; 8 corners to 0 for WSU and 35% of their possession in the final 3rd to 15% for WSU. With Shyra James in street clothes (along with Jenny Beyer) freshman Jace Holly started up top with Hope Leyba. Otherwise the lineup was unchanged from the DU match. The Buffs best chance of the first half was on a PK which was earned when Hope Leyba was pulled down in the box when beating a defender off the dribble. Laura Guivin took the PK was saved by WSU’s Hadley Harris. Ava Priest finally got the Buffs on the board when she put in a close range shot after a nice sequence of passes from Michaela Rosenbaum and Juliuana Heyward. Priest looked to have scored again in the 70th minute but the play was called offside. On both of these sequences Priest was playing a more central role in the midfield rather than wingback. Hope Leyba put the game away in the 87th minute when a long ball over the top caused WSU’s Hadley Harris to race off her line to get to it first. She did, but Hope was right there and blocked the clearance which then rolled into the goal. CU opens their return to Big XII play on Thursday night when they travel to Kansas State.

I have the Buffs ending the season at #25, which makes the current #19 look about right. At this point in the season, I do not consider that level of rank difference, in this area of the rankings, to be significant.

Eve of the Big XII CU travels to Kansas State tomorrow for their first conference match of the season. It will mark their first Big XII match since 2012. And the Big XII isn’t what it was back then with Nebraska, Texas and Texas A&M gone and thus weakening the conference’s RPI. Certainly, this version of the Big XII won’t be nearly as tough as the Pac 12 the Buffs experienced. Remember that the Big XII title will be determined by a tournament in Kansas City, which will also determine the automatic NCAA tourney bid. The chart below shows the current RPIs for all the Big XII teams. Those in yellow are the teams CU will face this season. The Buffs have a good shot at a conference title this season and they are clearly going to get an NCAA tourney bid with an RPI of 24, assuming it doesn’t drop a lot by the end of the season.
Prior to the season three Buffs were named to the preseason all-Big VII team: Shyra James 5th Yr F Faith Leyba Jr. D Jordan Nytes So. GK In addition to the above the following players should be in the running for post-season honors: Hope Leyba So F Ava Priest So D/M Michaela Rosenbaum Gr. M Greer Maguire Jr D
Just curious where you are getting these RPI numbers from? looking at all white kit they have the RPIs as: Oklahoma State - 24 Baylor - 30 Cincinnati - 31 BYU - 33 Arizona - 41 West Virginia - 42 TCU - 47 Colorado - 65 Houston - 71 Kansas - 76 Arizona State - 83 Texas Tech - 86 UCF - 95 Everyone else below 100

It looks to me like these come from my projected end of season rankings, which include actual results of games already played and predicted results of all games (including conference tournaments) not yet played.
Sorry to go off-topic, but is the "all white kit" still operating? I couldn't locate anymore the content from the past that I used to read on their website. Do they now operate through some kind of social media (I don't use to subscribe to them)?
Chris Henderson, who used to have material on All White Kit, posts on twitter as @chris_awk. He posts a ton of information.
Oh, ok: I was supposing something of the kind. I personally knew Chris in Algarve a dozen years ago and I liked the content he was posting on his website: I have to assume all of the old articles from that far past are not accessible anymore?
Actually I can only seem to find this page, but the links in it look broken. Thanks for the resource; I was actually looking for the old articles instead.
Jace Holley (Fr., Fort Collins) who scored the goal for the Buffs is gonna be really good as both an attacking midfielder and forward. She's already making a push to be a starter and I am sure she'll score more critical goals for CU this season. CU is at Oklahoma State and Iowa State this week.
will be a tough one down in Stillwater. Let's see if CU can break OSU's scoreless streak. OSU still has not been scored on this season. Should be a pretty easy one with Iowa State.
Okie State is 8-0-1 this season and has yet to concede a goal. The lone blemish to their record is a 0-0 draw with Texas State at home. CU has conceded 4 goals in 8 matches this season, with 6 consecutive shutouts. Three of those goals were in the loss to North Carolina early in the season. Both teams are 1-0 in Big XII play.
So you're saying expect a lot of goals in this one! Also the return of Jordan Nytes to Stillwater. Jordan was the Big 12 Goalkeeper of the year for Oklahoma State her freshman year.
