It appears that Dani Hansen was pulled as a result of being hesitant on the first OSU goal. That's my interpretation. Hannah Sharts was pulled after the second OSU goal.

Just like the last game, Oregon is almost a must win if they want a tournament bid. Oregon has six points and Colorado four in the PAC 12.

Oregon beat Utah 1-0, despite being outshot 16-2, 7-0 on shots on goal. How do you win a game 1-0 without a shot on goal? Own goal. CU can beat them. Go Buffs.
Never a doubt! pic.twitter.com/TOBI2C47lc— Colorado Buffaloes Soccer (@CUBuffsSoccer) October 9, 2022
Did not play well, but got the job done. Remarkably, Oregon failed to get a shot on goal for the second straight game. The Buffs have to figure out a new offense if they are going to compete against the California teams.
Huge game on Friday. If they can go on the road against a mediocre Arizona team and get a win, they’ll set themselves up for a murderer’s row run against the California teams. Give yourselves a chance with a win against Arizona.
Arizona just beat USC, and took UCLA to the wire. That game could have gone either way. AZ hit the post minutes before UCLA scored in the latter part of the game.
In front of a large crowd and pre-game run by Ralphie, the Buffs dominated Oregon for a much needed win. Despite scoring only one goal, CU had the majority of possession (65%) and chances (22 total shots, 7 on target) while Oregon didn’t register a shot on goal. Just as in the win v OSU on Thursday the Buffs deployed a 4-4-2 with Emerson Layne and Civana Kuhlmann starting up top. Oregon’s strategy was to compress their lines when CU was in possession and only put pressure on the ball near midfield. This allowed CU lots of time on the ball, but took away the opportunity for quick counter attacks. Still, CU would create multiple chances in the first half. The issue was finishing as the shots were either just off target or blocked in the box. CU’s goal came in the 74th minute when a free kick from just outside the box found an Oregon player’s arm in the box. Kuhlmann calmly buried the PK and that was enough for CU to earn its second conference win of the season. CU solo match this week is at Arizona on Friday.
yters, thanks for the update that I certainly didn't want to hear. So much for my easier game theory. At the same time, it's time for CU to up its game. "Just enough" will not get it done during the final stretch.

Well, it appears the season is history. CU plays the top four teams, but no reason to think they can be successful. Frankly, I’m surprised it’s fallen apart. In the last game at Arizona, they had zero corner kicks. Zero. They have lost any team offense. It’s all individual play.
Sure is, in terms of making the NCAA tourney this season. It was not looking good after the first three conference matches and the Buffs had managed just one point. Prior to the season I really thought this would be one of the better teams in program history. They have depth and some tremendous talent up top. But it just hasn't worked out.

Wheels came off. Embarrassing play and effort. Goaltending was abysmal. Not much positive to say except for having a good crowd for a Thursday game at 3.
Not a good outing yesterday for #CUBuffs soccer as No. 1 UCLA posts a 6-0 win at Prentup: https://t.co/KrkIVVRzoW— Pat Rooney (@prooney07) October 21, 2022
Interesting game. 1-1 tie wasn’t a fair result to USC from the flow of play, but CU was disappointed when it didn’t hold on for a win. Shout out to Kayleigh Webb who did a great job at center back. Can’t remember a forward making that move before. She played great against a team with speed and skill.

What a difference a few days makes. CU looked dead in the water during their 0-6 loss to UCLA on Thursday afternoon. They conceded the first goal in the second minute and the floodgates were opened. But on Sunday v USC, Danny Sanchez completely changed the system going to a 5-3-2 with much more man marking. The system change combined with a positive attitude by the players led to a competitive 1-1 draw that was one play away from winning. Prior to Sunday’s match, the Buffs had played more of a zonal marking system which gave quality opposition a lot of time and space on the ball in the attacking third without much pressure on the ball. The result was not only giving a lot of scoring chances to the opposition, but limiting their own by not challenging for the ball in midfield. Looking at the record since the schedule became competitive it’s clear this strategy wasn’t working. Switching to a 5-3-2 was part of the change, against USC the Buffs also put more pressure on the ball higher up the pitch which limited USC quality chances in the final third. The back line consisted of - L to R - Rachel Rosen, Jayden Newkirk, Kayleigh Webb, Lawson Willis, Amaya Gonzalez. Webb, playing center back for the first time since her freshman season, was outstanding. She had several critical tackles and blasted all the goal kicks she took. She organized the back line and was vocal. Starting in goal was Bella Grust who came up with a huge intervention in the second half in which she was injured but was able to continue to play. For the game, she was credited with nine saves. CU’s goal was once again the result of an outstanding finish by Civana Kuhlmann. Jade Babcock-Chi collected a ball deep in CU’s defensive end and carried it with no pressure until she found Kuhlmann who took a couple of touches before blasting a left-footed shot into the back of the net. Kuhlmann is definitely a next level finisher. Fortunately for her, there was a scout from the Washington Spirit in the stands. With Kuhlmann’s goal coming in the 38th minute the Buffs had to hold on for a long time to preserve a victory. Predictably USC was able to produce shots on goal, but many of them were easy saves. Interestingly, USC’s goal was the result of an attempt by Hannah Sharts to clear a flighted ball which popped right to USC’s Aaliyah Farmer’s head in the 75th minute. Kudos to the coaching staff and players for executing a new system with little time to train between games. The Buffs should consider keeping Webb at center back for the final three matches of the season.
