Did anyone hear about Northeastern University joining the Colonial Conference??? The Boston Globe, Burlington Free Press and Boston Herald all reported the story last week. Word is that within two years they Huskies will jump from the America East to the Colonial Conference. The papers also said that a team from the south is also considering the move.

The Huskies have the best record in the America East over the past four years including two regular season championships and one tournament championship. With less than three scholarships they will not enjoy the same results in the much tougher Colonial Conference.

The CAA definitely wants to add 2 teams to get to an even 12. The southern school mentioned was the College of Charleston. UNCW has wanted a travel partner since the northern teams were added. Northeastern also has football and the CAA wants football.
If Northeastern only has 3 scholarships they will definitely struggle in that league.
