Happy he's back... One of the few in MLS that I think has a ton of potential and still quite young. https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/ne...r-borrero-buoys-revs-with-long-awaited-return
Borrero came on in the 63rd minute last night... And he was stretchered off the field at minute 90...
I think Gomez is a really good prospect, and he fits what we need from wide forwards in our current system perfectly. Comes inside and makes direct runs to goal and can finish, has good ability to beat his man, size, speed and the ability to combine with others. Good depth for us going forward, to add to Diaz/Sini/Arias, especially since we need options on that right side who can go direct and make runs off the ball to goal.
I like his speed out on the wings. And as I alluded in another thread, I like that he shoots the ball low on target and rarely over hits it or boots it into the stands like most other Colombians do in pressure situations. I hope he continues to grow and goes to a better league within the next couple seasons.
CUCHO! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/tOODkhGE6z— Major League Soccer (@MLS) July 14, 2024 hugo lloris in goal by the way Cucho’s last 7 games: 8 goals, 5 assists.
CUcho > Borja >Quintero > Carascal > Uribe > Borre Cucho for Carrascal Cassiera for Borre think Cucho could def play the false 9 that the coach wants and a much better James Alternative than Quintero/Carrascal are.
Hindsight, but after 28 games without a loss, it’s hard to break in to the squad. Why would Nestor make a change for an unproven player? I really hope he can get an extended run in the squad now, however.
Cucho and Carrascal offer totally different skillsets. I like Cucho but he's not an upgrade from Borre.
Salt Lake's Chicho Arango has been suspended for four matches due to what they are saying is violation of Anti-Harassment policy. (He will miss three MLS matches and the All-Star game.) No specifics, no explanation, no context available from MLS. Very, very odd.
He's certainly an upgrade in some areas, he's an upgrade for operating on the right and I think offensively he's an upgrade almost across the board, maybe Borre is better in the air because of his height. Pressing and defending Borre is better, but offensively it's not that difficult to pass Borre.
The Andres Gomez LEAP continues.Up to 13 goals and 9 assists (!!) this season. The 21-year-old Colombian stepped up big in 2024. pic.twitter.com/gx9I6hzqD9— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) July 21, 2024
shouldn’t have made the mls pit stop. Unless this gets him a epl or championship move then it’s. Waste should have gone to a euro team with 30% future sale instead
Andres Gomes and Cucho need to leave MLS, imo they should be getting a chance in our squad now but Lorenzo isn't buying it and I think they've shown everything they can in MLS and need a bigger challenge and they should look for it the winter window imo. I think both of them would be really good playing the false 9 role, Cucho plays that already but I think Gomes has all the tools to adapt his game to playing central he's still very young and I think they both deserve a chance.
