Christian Rivera scored a unique hat-trick today for Tijuana.

All three goals came from the penalty spot.

On the whole it is still better than MLS for now. But with FIFA basically telling MLS clubs to spend more money and stop with all the designated player rules things could change. After the World Cup it may be different.

Mexico I would say is better than Colombia but not by much. Tactically it is better and their team styles of play would give Colombian teams fits.

the colombian league has not had competitive teams since mid 2010s. it has become a large seeder league. and the match fixing doesnt really give it much quality imo

Yeah, I watch mostly Millos games, because it is my team, but the league sucks. The quality of play is very low and the pace is non-existent; it gets a little better during the playoffs because those are the better teams that invest the most money.

OTOH, since Brazil teams are now super-rich (by South American standards), pretty much every league except Brazileirao sucks and you see their dominance in our international competitions; the only other league that comes close is Argentina, and even though Racing won Sudamericana this year, I think half the semifinalist were Brazilian (yeah, the format sucks too).

LMF is probably just behind Argentina, and MLS is now getting close, and since they're rich too, they can poach any second-tier talent from our leagues.

the Colombian league has too many games. I actually hate the playoffs way too long. So if you are not champion you played what an extra month? With no down time or time to get new players. If your a small team you just got raided. How do you recover?

the top team never wins, league plays during international duty, it should either be top team wins or top 8 play 1 or 2 games single elimination or home/away. Not this 2nd league of 8 teams bullshit. Just do a Brazil league thing. 1st division is 2 regions. At the end 8 teams play and a champion is found from that if we really want to have a 2nd mini league like we do.

Also bigger teams sell a 20 year old then bring in some random 30 year old from Uruguay or Argentina 2nd or 3rd division. How many young players has Dept Cali sold in the last 10 years or since the U20 from 2005. For them to be broke makes no sense. They got so much money from these transfers and nothing to show for it. Is it because of the stadium?

worst of all a nice young goalie prospect pops up plays for a while then gets benched for a random guy from Uruguay.

I like Nacional and Dept Cali I follow those teams and watch those games on Sling when they are on. Pretty painful to watch them recently. I like Cali because they use youth players and are the two teams most our U20 guys come from. My dad like Junior but I just hate the ownership of that team and how c unty it is. Still mad about the Untinoma not being allowed to use the stadium or loaning players to that team. They literally destroyed Chungas career for 7 years by not loaning the fking dude out.

There are many teams built for that, see Envigado. They're not interested in trophies, only develop and sell youngsters to bigger or foreign teams.

Colombian viewers like this format, and it actually benefits all the qualified teams, because they get 3 more games at home, that usually sell out, unlike the regular season games.

Cali is know for their player development and they are usually good at placing their prospects very well. Not sure why they're in crisis, but it could be a combination of corruption and the cost of owning their stadium.

Sometimes it makes sense to sell your youngster if you get the right price, and Uruguayan players have proved to be worth the investment, usually they get them cheap or on loan and they end up performing very well. See Junior's current goalkeeper.

Junior sucks. They usually bring old overpriced veterans and they usually choke when it matters the most.

Junior can't win an away game to save the lives of their mothers and children. I just dont understand regardless of the coach or players Junior can't ever fking win a game away from home. It's not like they are fking Bolivia in Qualifiers. They have a solid fking team. You can dress Real Madrid in Junior uniforms but that team will still lose away from home. Just fking pathetic. I also hate the chars

ever since WIN tv became a thing the corruption has increased much much more bc the system allows small teams to get a lot of $$

so you have teams like Quindio rotting in relegation as their owner earns the big $$

the system creates and promotes corruption.
i was hoping the govt would have some how intervened bit even that seems like a remote possibility

If any of you is interested on this issue, there's a good podcast on spotify called Historias Secretas from Alejandro Pino Calad. There are a few episodes where he touches a lot of issues about how the money is distributed and who decides to whom it goes. You may learn a few truths about the garbage bin fire that is our fed and the league.

Brasileirao is on par with euro leagues as far as money is concerned. The winner of their cup competitions gets massive amounts of money. Even more so than some of the euro leagues. The wages they are offering are on par with Europeans and they have the transfer budgets to directly sign players from their European contracts.

The gap between them and everyone else in South America has never been bigger.
