We are going to have to play teams at the World Cup that have different skill levels and potentials. We need to find ways to beat teams with different styles and with different ways of approaching the game.

You want us to play stronger teams. There are not really many strong teams available this FIFA friendly Window.
We will play strong teams in March and Summer.

Maybe Sini if he ever gets healthy and back to his " he is better than Pulisic" form.
But we both know it is likely he will be injured again.

Man, did we jinx him. Poor Sini, so talented, yet so little to show.

The good/bad thing with our squad, is that there aren't that many positions to guess.

    GK: Maybe the 3rd spot.
CB: Mostly set, testing Yerry's replacement.
    RB: set
LB: As weak as Mojica is, it is his spot to lose, also weak subs.
    DM/CM: We're 4 deep here
AM: James and JFQ, plus Yaser as understudy
LW: Lucho and someone to give him a rest.
RW: Arias, but if we could find a true winger
ST: Somehow deep but at the same time no clear starter.

I have never liked Mojica. I wish we can find someone else.

HOWEVER, we have to give him props. In the Copa America he played well when we needed him most. Particularly against Uruguay in the Semi when he defended with all his guts and all his heart.
If that Mojica can show up for most of the matches next summer we should be okay for the most part at LB.

Agree with what you posted tho I see Yaser fighting Gomez/Carboreno for a winger spot.

is it Quintero or Carrascal for James back up role.

Duran can come in 0 friendlies and make the WC taking out Borre if he has a good rest of the year.

for GKs he has his 3. Last GK he called other than Mier was Chunga who think actually played and the Roma 3rd string goalie that did not play?

-Quintana starter at Bucaramanga must be black listed or something because he didnt want to go back to Nacional. 31 and 6'5 been one of the best keepers in our league for a while now
    - Jordon Garcia - U20 gk and starter at Forteleza
    - Juan Castillo - 22 starter in Portugal (was backup goalie to Nacionals 3rd string goalie that needs to leave that club on loan something)

    +++++++++also forgot no Roman :)

have we ever had a good LB? It was always players playing out of position or Armero who couldn't defend for shit but was great attacking and had like 8 sets of lungs that would run all game. That is the best one I can remember. Remember Hayder Palacios like 20 years ago would only play in Barranquilla. Was Bustos a LB? he was utter garbage but could score free kicks

Yaser doesn't really play wing for Lorenzo. I do not really know how to describe his sub role.
He plays more centrally, almost like the J Arias position but not as good defensively or as organized. He played best in the Romania match when both he and JuanFer came in to solidify the midfield.

Also looked good against Canada so I hope that earned him more minutes, maybe even a surprise start.

LBs are difficult to come by, not only for us, but for everyone. Well, maybe Brazil finds them more often than not...

** Let’s see how Duran is doing by mid February…I think Borre is high up on Nestor's list whether we like it or not. I think Duran is competing against Cucho and Cordoba for a spot and i think Cordoba is in Nestor's better graces of the 3 if i had to guess.

** I would like to see Yerson be at full fitness by March friendlies. I also have my concerns about Mina's health over 3 group games and 1-5 additional knockout games, but i guess Ditta & Cuesta are duking it out for a spot? I liked Ditta but he just may be surplus at the moment. I think his presence will come down to last minute injuries to the other defenders on the list.

** I agree with CRZD to an extent about going in with our A team this month. This does little to help us. i hope that Puerta, Gomez, Carbonero, Carrascal and Yasser get real playing time these next two games

Santos Borre seems high at times but there was a stretch there during qualifying that he was totally ignored.

I guess the only good thing going for him is he has a good chemistry with Carbonero since they practice every day together. But there's really not much up side to having a 9 who has horrible shot on goal accuracy. It is kind of counter-productive to have a striker who misses way too many chances.

Nestor does love him as you alluded to though. Maybe both Duran and Santos Borre make it with how big rosters are.

Glad to see Gomes called up, hope he is given a good amount of time to see how he does. Puerta too glad he's included and given a chance.

We have seen enough of Cucho this year.
More than likely Gomez is being given a chance because of his injury.

It seems like it's gonna be the World Cup squad more or less. I don't think that Borre deserves to be here, so far. I would strongly recommend Jesurun to talk to Duran so he would apologies in front of Lorenzo and the squad and return to the NT. We cannot miss players like him but he must improve his behavior.

I would take Mier over Montero any day of the week, although it's not critical at the moment, none of them is going to play. Ospina is no. 2.

I miss Cabal here, I think he deserves a call despite lacking appearances in the NT. Angulo didn't do well in his first games, but I'm also not suggest to erase him.

Jorman Campuzano deserves to be here before Castaño, but Kevin was in Lorenzo's process and he will continue with him.

And one last thing: I'm not sure that I wouldn't call Neyser Villareal for some friendlies to see how he is. Can be a suprising call up but also a good one. He just need to start playing regularly.

    he'll be gone a while I imagine

that's fine, we have Montero, Vargas, Ospina. All 3 are more serious goalkeepers than that clown

btw, another good game from Castillo in Portugal yesterday. Could make a late appearance at some point

Mexican Media has confirmed that it is a fractured tibia and Mier will need surgery.

Typical recovery time is 6 months.

    Horrible.

And for those saying the three players who are called up are likely to be the three in the World Cup anyway... ...sure, you can say that.
But our older keepers could get injured too. So hopefully in March we call up at least someone different out of Devis, Quintana, Castillo for insurance.
