These are the potential guys that we def can't afford to miss their 1st game in my book (Stupid rule in my book --- can understand a red card ) Davinson Sanchez John Lucumí Richard Ríos John Arias John Córdoba All others I think I'd play tomorrow.
All it takes is a nasty Venezuelan hatchet tackle on Diaz’s knee and BOOM he is out for the World Cup. That is what I am concerned about in this type of intense match.
That is true; even though we would have just under a year, Venezuela will be desperate to get that playoff spot. While I am not saying Bolivia will 100% beat Brazil at home, they aren't gonna risk it.
Hoping Bolivia dont go to the world cup, they won't even make it past the playoff. Its a waste of time. They're too shit to do anything
Yeah it's kind of ********ed up they would go to the World Cup simply because of their advantage at altitude. It's probably the biggest non soccer advantage in world soccer, Venezuela doesn't have that advantage.
concacaf level team at most, if they miraculously make it to the tournament they're losing every game by a 3 goal margin. Not a serious team
Either one is going to be a doormat IMHO, so it really makes not much of a difference. While expanding the number of participants has helped Colombia (With 32 teams, we would be either eliminated or fighting for the last berth with Paraguay), 48 teams mean that there are a lot of very weak squads in there, and even for the next round, you will have terrible teams, as 8 out of 12 3rd place teams advance. If FIFA wanted to expand the tournament they should had either make it only to 40 (8 groups of 5, first two teams advance), or had a preliminary round, where 24 teams (8 triads) compete for 8 spots along 24 others that qualifiy directly.
A lot of teams use any advantage they can. We use our heat in Barranquilla (results may vary), Bolivia uses their altitude and that does affect visiting players. USA usually play Mexico in Columbus, where they have the advantage in local fans (at least there would be less mexi fans there than in LA for example). I don't mind teams use their advantages. They add variety to the games. If the state of the actual playing field is good and safe, teams could play in a volcano for all I care. Edit: As dapip says, there will be a lot of doormats in next WC. I ratter have our doormat than other european team.
Funny that you mention that. I remember reading this story when I was younger, but I had forgot about it... https://www.amazon.com/El-Area-18-Spanish/dp/950515156X Congodia, un pequeño país africano, ha logrado su independencia y el desarrollo de su economía a través de su equipo nacional de fútbol. Here is the pdf if you care to read it. https://doc-isolation-prod.prod.fir...c39abe&statusCode=1000&operationRestriction=3
I'm not really mad at Bolivia, everyone uses their advantage, but their advantage is way bigger than anyone else, fan advantage any team can get altitude isn't the case, its a huge advantage that although is totally fair and legal is still a non soccer large advantage. Everyone should use their advantages within the rules, but if I'd rather see a team go it's Venezuela because they are a better side, and its all down to altitude which is crazy.
I do agree that Venezuela should go instead of Bolivia. That team is pitiful, and that is why I was screaming last thursday because they were gaining momentum on us.
isn't there a proposal by Conmebol to include all 10 teams and expand the tourney to 64 teams for 2030? Maybe not for this WC but with a field of 64 I can see even the weakest Conmebol team squeezing out a couple points. The irony of it all to see Venezuela and Iran play in the USA next year.
they do that and you are going to have 25 red carded players. on the home field advantage…… why can’t we play games in different cities US does it….. and they play 1 game in a blizzard and then the next game in California Why can’t the team rotate between cali, Medellin, Barranquilla and bogota
Or it can take a part-time pro player, 4rth division team, playing one of the stupid smaller national cups to come at you and tear an ACL ala Falcao. All this to say, there's no way of knowing when it's 'your day'. Can't stop to play the game because of fear of injury, 10 months away from the WC.
It can happen walking down the street or waking up on the wrong side of the bed. The point is we are qualified. We are not obligated to win or play our best players. Why take the risk? No one has given me an upside to playing our best other than we win and get confidence, which is okay but I am not sure it is worth risking our best players getting injuries or suspended.

I feel bad for Venezuela, we didn't have to do them like this. imagine that, the game to qualify to a world cup and we shove 6 up their arse in their own packed stadium, very harsh
