In hindsight it's kinda sad that we didn't take JPA to that tournament.

Aristi (who then wouldn't feature in qualifiers) played and got all the minutes and it probably denied us a shot at getting Angel confident in the NT and then we choked in qualifying.

Of course, we won and don't think we received a goal so probably unfair...

just goes to show how bad our current federation is and how corrupt it is that those guys are all still in charge. The President of the fed went to jail.... the rest of them didn't because they "didn't Know". Tho I think it was the Chile game in 2014 or 2018 that it was found out that the kids of these guys were reselling their tickets for money or had some other scam.

Nothing happened. Then our president gets arrested in the Copa America final..... his boys are like na thats a one off. Nothing to see here. Hopefully that guy went to a Diddy party so the FBI arrest him and we can finally get rid of him

If I had to put some money on it, Higuita was likely a guest at a Diddy party…

It is going to be interesting to see how Lorenzo approaches the 9 slot in November.
Will it be Santos Borre if he is healthy?
Will Cassierra be given another chance?
Will Borja be given another chance assuming he is still killing it at River?
Any new striker pops on the scene?

I know Duran seems like the obvious answer (-and he might very well be. )

However, in an intense match like Uruguay with guys who will be antagonizing him and trying to get under his skin as most Uruguayans do it may not be wise to throw him out there in what will be like a battle from the movie Gangs of New York.

Maybe starting him in the next match against Ecuador would be the better call.

Just something to think about over the next few weeks.

Beating Uruguay in Uruguay even tho they are not in their best moment would be a huge statement of intent

same if we beat Brazil in Brazil. That just screams this team is a World Cup contender

we have dipped big time since copa America and have played badly the last 4 games. 2 of the teams were garbage and we got 1 points away from home against the 2 worst teams talent wise.

then scraped a win vs Argentina after giving them a laughable gift of a goal. I don’t think we played at that well vs Chile regardless of the score line either

We beat Argentina and we responded to the loss in La Paz with our biggest win of qualifiers yesterday.

    Perspective matters.

agreed. I was hoping for this kind of game to relieve my jitters but looks like we still have plenty in the tank. Next 2 opponents will be tough but winnable or at least games where we should come good with points. Still want a RB option and hoping James can stay fit for club.

Unfortunately Santi is our best RB backup option.

Maybe during December/January we can try out some guys from Colombia/USA/Mex/ Arg/ etc. in Non-FIFA friendlies but things are not looking good at that spot when it comes to new blood.

I think Santi has played well when called on and he's got tons of experience and comfortable with the team, good mix for a backup even if he's getting up there.

think he played well but wish we had given Roman a few minutes. Same as Portilla and Castano. Maybe we get some non fifa friendlies and they can start

hate Quintero but these are the types of game he excels at. Game is over we dominating and throw him in to kill time with 0 pressure

Arias would have still been in europe and maybe even be starting if it weren't for all those freaking injuries that ruined his career

For Qualifying I am on board with what you are saying.
But looking at 2026 it would be nice to see if anyone younger can jump into the mix.

Yeah absolutely. I think all of our decisions should be really thinking about what the squad may look like in 26, I think in the case of a clear back up with a guy like Munoz its less of an issue but we need to be having young options ready for every guy 30 and over.

Lb is more of an issue and #9.

also GK with the ages of Vargas, Ospina(doubt he makes 2026).

mier and Vasquez look great but have 0 minutes. I think both knock out Montero from 2026

munoz is very good and young. Arias is a great back up. I think he is faster and better offensively just worst defensively + older.

We are fine here + Roman if we need him.

LB - Mojica isn’t a good lb, serviceable but def our weakest link. Options after that are even worse

striker we all want it to be Duran and that he can score consistently. Cordoba seemed good but went to Borre level of miss 12 clear shots per goal.

other big question mark is James. I think he can hold off another year but who replaces him and what replaces him. If it’s still Quintero or another pecho frio we had other than James after el Pibe. It will be a massive issue. If it’s 2 striker system or a 3rd winger maybe it will work
