what matters to me is that we make it to the final. i think we are above Brazil and have to battle it out with Uruguay.. we actually have an okay record in KO rounds vs Uruguay outside of that its failure
we beat Uruguay then Brazil in a knockout game and dont beat Argentina I will be fking PISSED !!! we beat 2 way better teams and the hardest road to the final only to be knocked out by a team with a joke road to the final + the refs help the whole wya because comenbol and fifa want Messi to win in Miami.
You guys can go fcuk yourselves then. All jokes aside I wonder if these Copa America matches will be competitive as a whole; even tho Argentina won, I keep wondering what the first upset will be.
We are not above Brazil. Hate to break it to folks who think 1 win in WCQ win and a hot streak of games including a win at HOME makes us better thab Brazil. I'll buy that as a TEAM we're currently evenly matched and have more cohesion but they were with an interim coach and had their chances in Barranquilla they didn't put away. They have been in last 2 CA FINALS and they are still knees deep in talent and Colombia has the burden to prove we can be a championship team. The oddmakers don't have it wrong having us considered as a dark horse and not the fav. I'm hopeful and we got a good shot against every team.
I think you're thinking that people think that we are better than brazil because they're so good and we beat them and did better than them against the US... ...people think that we would be better because this Brazil team is bad as a whole in comparison to previous versions and our current happens to be better. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if this Brazil team had more upsets against them.
good point. and when i say above Brasil i do mean out current form but that also dont mean shit in 2014 we thought we would beat a very limited Brasil and they smoked us.
to be fair, except for last 2 Copas (both played in their home soil) Brazil has way underachieved in the last 20 years in the big stage. That'w why they got smoked by Germany in WC2014. BUT we need to continue to punch above our weight. I keep saying best thing that we have going for us is we have a deep bench of talent and Lorenzo has been very good about making moves when it matters.

I am going to talk about our future/ long term success here. We have some very good young players in the pipeline that hopefully get a chance. I was thinking we may not have much time to do that BUT maybe we do. With the new dynamic of World Cup expansion and assuming we qualify early we may very well have a chance to integrate a lot of young/new players into the fold in Qualifying matches that we won't need to worry about. The thought of that really intrigues me and makes me think there is time to get a lot better for 2026. Assuming we take care of business early and do not make things difficult when it comes to qualifying of course.
Yeah we should be able to start incorporating Yaser and Duran more as well as Puerta. Future is bright
With James likely gonna retire after the 2026 WC, I can't help but be concerned about who will be our best playmaker. He's really showcased what a classic 10 can still do but I don't know how we would find another old school 10 like him available for the next gen. If even having another player like him is really the best option for the next gen. In all other areas we seemingly have enough for the 2030 world cup with up and coming talents.
We will have to find someone or Lorenzo can adjust the style of play and tactics. I think Yaser can play 10 but as has been stated before he can also play J Arias' position. I personally like that kid from Medellin Monsalve and think he can be a future 10 but he is way too young, inconsistent and inexperienced and can end up just being a mediocre Colombian league player his whole career. Hard to predict when no club teams outside of South America really care about that position anymore.
Honorable mention is a guy like Yeison Guzmán at Tolima but I thought he would be at a bigger club by now.
