this is why Falcao will continue to be called up. Only forward on this team with the balls to score any goals

Falcao is our Klose. Has to be called up until he says he cannot play anymore. Santos Borre... ...he did lots of things well today but his poor accuracy showed up again on a play he should have scored on. At least it was not as bad as the miss against Chile but it was still pretty bad. Atuesta has shown more to me in two games than Alzate has in multiple opportunities. He may finally be our answer to the "Abel" position we have been looking for. Great goal by Davinson. People around here like CrzD have to shut up about him not being called. Lucumi impressed me. Playing the Mina role with less personality but still with solid consistent play. Arias is no Diaz but as a backup LW and sub watch out. Valoyes is no Sini but as a back up not bad at all. We need a LB. Both Mojica and Fabra just cannot cut it at this level defensively. Or even offensively lately. JuanFer is JuanFer. Glad he started over James. Lerma is solid. Looks like he has the nod over Barrios in these types of games. All-in-all Great three game start for Lorenzo. Great experimenting and we are scoring goals. Hopefully that keeps up going into March.

More strikers need to be given a shot over Borre and Falcao who don’t play or score for there teams. these are friendlies and are where we find new players half retired guys like Juanfer, Falcao and Fabra shouldn’t get called. also why call Barrios and not play him at all?
It would have to be Duvan but he seems injured and slow compared to seasons past. Maybe Muriel? (But if Lorenzo is like Pekerman he will play him out wide.) He called up Estupiñán for two games and did not even play him one minute so that shows you what he thinks of him. Morelos has been on the bench too and still has some attitude and discipline issues for my liking. Lorenzo may have to experiment with some sort of false 9 like Sini played in the past at club level.
One last thing about this game. We scored unconventional types of Colombian goals. In fact we scored a bit like Paraguay to beat Paraguay ironically. A nice set piece header and a good cross for a header during the run of play. JuanFer's pass did not surprise me. Munoz's did. If he can continue to cross like that he may have RB locked down for the rest of the cycle. Although Falcao made it look so easy with that finish. Not too many Colombians can do that as Doogs alluded to.
Think Borre is a false 9 when I see him play it reminds me of a less skilled 2014 James..... but with 0 finishing haha
You can play Borre, but then you need to have Diaz and Sinisterra out there with him. Arias and Valoyes can score, but the first does it mainly from outside of the box and the latter mostly does it when countering. Carrascal is more of a creator. Diaz and Sini get into the box and play off the 9. You get the best of Borre that way and the finishing won't hurt as much. I'm holding hope for Duran. Lorenzo keeps using him as a winger though... You're thinking of Teo, then. He was the false 9, James was media punta.
What's done is done. What bugs me is that CAS did find Ecuador guilty after all but since this was very late all they could do was make them automatically have -3 points taken for the start of the next qualifiers and pay Chile/Peru a very minor fine. I do wonder what would have happened if FIFA had actually considered Ecuador guilty and if they could have possibility simply disqualified them from the qualifiers. But now we have a new coach and a better promising future to look forward to s far.
if we would have qualified, we probably would have kept Rueda which means we would have still been playing horribly. We would have been completely humiliated, maybe enough to beat Qatar 1-0 and then back to back losses to Holland and Senegal. I have no doubt. What happened is for the best, colombians were still living in the past thinking its still 2014 and James doesn't age.
Agree but what we all hope looking back was that Rueda was fired after the goalless streak before Peru match and we would have made it under a different coach but yeah, given the choice of wc with rueda or no wc at all, I prefer the latter
we missed our window 2010 we should have Qualified. Would have had an Almost in Prime Yepes, Falcao in god mode. 2014 .... what would have been if we had Falcao. 2018.... no James and got fk'd over in the England game. We beat France before the WC and I don't think Croatia was better than us. Just Pekerman being a pussy and going ultra defensive giving England way too much respect 2022..... our best players have aged out or in really bad form. We should have qualified but Fed didn't want to fire Rueda even tho Osorio said he would coach the team for free. 2018 cycle 1.lost Yepes (tho Mina was way more of a scoring threat and think was our top scorer). 2/3. Zuniga/Armero - Still looking for this replacement and don't think they get the credit for how well our team played with them around 4. Abel - wasn't the best player but really fit nicely in the team. He should have been replaced earlier but no one popped up. 5. Teo - work horse not the Goku alot of people here think he is but still a massive downgrade since he has left 2022 1. Falcao like it or not is a Zombie 2. NO striker 3. James just fk'd around for 4 years and still has muscle issues 4. Quintero ..... is he a professional player? or a rapper? what is he currently doing? 5. Mina/Sanchez turned to total shit and coaches just refused to give Lucumi a shot 6. no wingbacks especially ones that can defend. + Munoz wasn't given a fair shot 7. Sinnisteria not being called at all when he was in God mode in Holland 8. Going with ultra defensive coaches 2023 forward 1. Change formation. We have wingers now so fking use them. We don't have a 9 nor wingbacks. Stop playing that way. 2. Drop the players who don't play for their clubs or just are not in good form. I get Bring Diaz in Crutches but everyone else? 3. Please stop playing in the US. We missed out on an Italy friendly to play in the US. Plus our players keep having visa issues. + feel they force us to use certain players.
Clearly the difference already in this World Cup is that teams that have transitioned with youngsters are thriving. Unfortunately, we had plenty of youngsters that could have been transitioned in but we just insisted on the same 2014 WC base all the way until it was just too late.
