If I was Ecaudorian I would be REALLY pissed at the situation...like Jesus I didn't think that there was genuinely a case and it's only as things escalated that I started to believe.

Supposed "leak". 1534585218547470347 is not a valid tweet id But not 100% reliable and we still have to wait.
There are a Lot of people that play in countries where they didn't born... .. Did Castillo fake it all the way?.. why don't just play by FIFA eligibility rules for these cases?... Why did You have to lieeeee
Honestly for all we know he may have assumed that the paper work was properly done; considering that there were allegations since he was in the U20 squad, he have maybe been "assured" that he was naturally legal as a citizen. Now I don't know how it works in Ecuador but why wouldn't they have simply "fixed" and properly legalize him as a citizen for Ecaudor? It's baffling how incompetent Ecaudor seemingly was with not properly making him a citizen of their own country if he was promising enough to be called up to not only their youth squads of the national team, but for the senior team as well.
What a dream.— La DiStefaneta (@Cemaleze) June 8, 2022
Let me throw in a couple of theories that could explain Castillo's case: 1. It is not uncommon for people born in remote places to not have their full documentation, and sometimes there is really no paper trail to follow. 2. If a young kid is raised in a country or according to certain customs, he could easily assume that he was a citizen of that country and part of that culture. Assume that is the case for Castillo: He moved to Ecuador as a young boy and assumed that he was Ecuadorian, and even if he later realized that he wasn't, it is possible that he couldn't find the paperwork and then at some point, he opted to forge his id. Of course is terrible that both Castillo and the FEF allowed this to grow to that extent, specially if they considered him to be so important, which at the same time is odd, because he played in about half the games only.
It's late in Switzerland right now, we won't likely hear anything new until tomorrow and by then they would make their final decision by late afternoon since it would be be Friday for them; tonight it will be Thrusday morning for them.
haha Mexicans are trolling everyone obviously Peru wants to be 4th. chile/Colombia want to be at the WC but not this way!!
So something interesting that keeps being brought up: Some Italy supporters keep claiming that there's a FIFA "rule" that would basically have Italy attend the world cup vacant spot since they're among the highest ranked teams now obviously this doesn't matter since this would take a spot from South America (which FIFA would logically never humor; even the FIFA president made this very clear that there's no chance. For us however, We have been signicantly ahead in Chile in terms of rankings even at the end of the qualifiers and given that Chile's case is a sanction case on an actual legal formal matter, there's no 100% that FIFA would meet Chile's complete demands; they're handling whether or not Ecaudor should be disqualified and this doesn't necessarily apply to Chile getting the point as it's up to FIFA regardless if Ecaudor is eliminated. So in theory if FIFA simply disqualifies Ecaudor, Colombia has two ways for us to go to the world cup.
This does open Pandora’s box, I’m sure Ecuador wasn’t the only country in the world who has done this… recently
Some Colombians are already lol. Nah. The US scours the globe for folks who qualify and go through process to clear them to play. It completely baffles me that Ecuador didn't do that here since they knew since this kid was a youth player that his paperwork was dodgy.
