Also, I'm a bit concerned with this Duran signing. I hope he doesn't miss the match because of medicals. We play Paraguay first and Peru second. Undoubtedly, we're going to want to get the most points we can from these matches before facing Brazil and Argentina.
We usually have a decent track record at getting the European based clubs to loan our guys out for the WC. Sinisterra and Cucho played in the 2019 WC. In the past, Quintero, James, Muriel, and Murillo were able to do so while playing in Europe, too. Actually, I wonder if they're required to loan them out since it is a Fifa tournament. I am hearing that Duran will miss the first game on Thursday due to flying out to England for the standard Physical. ***Edit- he will miss the entire first round of matches. Bummer. But he may play in the second round in Bogota assuming we get there.
this team played horribly. They’re down 0-1, there is no teamwork, bad passes, no creativity, and TERRIBLE defending. I hope something changes, but it's not looking too good. I'm here in Cali and I'm glad I passed on going to the match. they should have at least put the Monsalve guy, and gave the Rojas kid a chance. la rosquera tradition in the federation is alive and well.
They definitely should've scored another, but, considering how bad everyone is saying they were in the 1st half, it's a decent result. They've gotta get Monsalve the ball more and he needs to start. Ocampo is the reincarnation of Armero. Phenomenal athlete who terrorizes defenses. But can't put in a final ball for his life. He'd be world class if he could.
They suffer from something a lot of the sub 20 teams do: priority #1 is to just get the ball to their main player and see if he can do something. That kid Puerta is special. So special that the team lets him run central midfield literally by himself. The problem is the entire team just goes upfield waiting for him to pick them out with passes. The other team just sits back and waits. It's like watching a QB throw against a 3-man pressure. They've played like this for months now and the coach does nothing about it.
Why is Cardenas the manager? He's always failed at everything. Not expecting much from this team even if there are talented players.
