too bad he was non-existant in that QF match when it mattered. We all adore James but there are times where we know he can do more. Personally, I feel our DFM Barrios and Duvan were more of the game changers for this Copa. But it's marketing 101so I get why he gets to lift the trophy. I mean GJesus had an amazing Copa despite his red card.

They were in the FINAL. So yes, Peru had to have some presence.

In all honesty, 8 of them were from Brasil, so if you remove those two games, the other 4 were rather good in defense.

    mejor fabra y tesillo honestamente.

In tune with what pepino just mentioned, it's very difficult to draw significant conclusions from a tournament where only 2 teams get to play all 6 games and where their defense has been one of their main weak points. I mean other than the mind blunder vs Brazil, Gallese had many great saves. In the same note, I liked what I saw with Tesillo and even some stuff from Medina but I wouldn't say anyone blew my mind. Potential yes, but want to see lots more games with some of these same players to make a call.

While I agree with you, I just wanted to note Pepino's point about Flamengo. They've been very unfair to Trauco. He had a great 2017 season even when Rueda was there, but then all of the sudden he found himself out of favour. Nobody knows what happened or why.

This tournament proved to me that Trauco needed game time. His first 2 games were terrible but after he was our best player besides Paolo.

I dont think what Medina showed justified sending Arias to the bench

Trauco is going somewhere, and he needs to leave for his own good. He's a talented player and he showed in this Copa he needs playing time to get performances going.

As for our next WCQ campaign, I just don't know what to expect. In the last qualifiers I knew Peru would put in a good performance always, but we've been rather inconsistent at least when it comes to putting in a show.

Gareca needs to gel in new players. We always talk about Chile's old generation but we are not that much younger. Hopefully for the Copa 2020 some new players are shoehorned in.

Tapia thought he was the new Godfather but there will only be 1 Grondona.

    ....from futbolred:
