Painful loss to Chile, although I must say that I took the England match much harder. Here's my summary of our Copa America: Optimistic side: It was a good tournament of Colombia. Leaving the final result a side since we lost in a PK, we managed to grab 10 out of 12 PTS without concede a single goal. Impressed by Carlos Queiroz. I was afraid when he was appointed but now I'm more relaxed. I like the 4-3-3 system, offensive. We played very well in most of our games (Unfortunatelly except Chile) when we attack, create chances, score and miss a lot. I like the high pressure of the strikers, I like the solid defense in the back. I think we played better than Pekerman's last year. we have a good future with him. Duvan Zapata and Edwin Cardona. In my opinion both of them had to play much more that the actually did. But I hope they'll get their chances in the near future, because we cannot pass on them. I like that Queiroz gave another chance to Cardona, who proved that he can help us a lot. And Duvan brought his form from Italy and was very good when he played. I like that Queiroz gave chances to Medina, to Tesillo, to Luis Diaz. All three of them were solid. Medina and Tesillo needs to improve their attacking ability because as full backs it really hurt us, but they can be a good option. Also gave the opportunity to Lucumi and Roger, both did a good job, mostly Roger of course and I was the one who didn't like his invitation. Pessimist side Late subs. We saw it vs. Qatar and especially against Chile. You cannot expect Zapata to save you in 13 minutes. Yes he scored twive on the 86th minute but you understood my point. Same with Cardona. or Lucho Diaz. They all came in too late, I think he could easily should've done at least one change at half time or at least until 60th minute. And if you brought Zapata in at the 77 when we are close to penalties, why did you take out your best PK taker? Mental barrier. Once again we were marked as favorite to reach far in a tournament and were eliminated too soon. in 2014 and 2015 we basically did our job, but in the last three tournaments we could and should reach at least one or two steps forward. And on Friday it was horrible because Chile clearly aren't better than us, but they wanted much more. And I don;t understand wht we don't have that hunger when we play in money time. In the past our battier was the group stage, now it's the first KO stage. Duvan or Falcao? THE question. except the Qatar game, Falcao started in all games. I can totally understand why Queiroz give him the credit, but in my opinion Duvan had to be a starter. Falcao should be called ofcourse, but Duvan had to start. You cannot give up on a 20+ Serie A goals striker. Unfortunately, many times we looked like a team with 10 players. Duvan must be a starter from now on, as long as he keeps his form. Physically he can handle much better with the defenders, unlike Falca. Full- backs. One of our main advantage in Pekerman's era were Zuñiga and Armero, full backs who supported the attack. In his second campaign, we had Arias who is decent and we have a problem in left position. I actually thought that Tesillo did very well and so is Medina, but both of them can't contribute too much offensively. We saw it especially against Chile. They barely supported the attack and our offensive game looked stuck without too much efforts from the flanks. Neither of them can also cross balls in a good way. I believe that Arias will return to this position, as for the left side it'll be interesting to see. Maybe Borja? Penalties. Another mental barrier for us. In the last four rounds, we lost three. Ospina, a very good goalkeeper, is not a PK specialist unfortunately. Very bad % in his career. On the other hand, you cannot replace him just before the PK because you cannot disrespect him like this. It's very cruel to lose like this but unfortunately we are the only one to blame. In general I'm very optimistic. we have a talented team, we have a future, the question is when are we going to fulfill this talent 100%. Luckily this generation has a great opportunity to do it in Colombia 2020 because it it won't happen there, I don't think it'll happen any time soon. And in March we'll start our way to Qatar 2022. VAMOS COLOMBIA! (Sorry for the long post).
