I snagged a copy of the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce newsletter today. The cover was a story about the stadium vote. The story didn't really present anything new, but it did seem very in favor of it. The interesting article came on page 10 though. It states that, "St. Louis Soccer United is offering a large marketing package to the City for marketing of other locations in Collinsville. Specifically, Downtown Collinsville will benefit tremendouslyfrom this package. The entire package's estimated value is between $70,000 and $100,000, and will be at the discretion of the City as to how this is used or divided up." Sounds like Cooper is greasing the skids a little. It never hurts to offer anyone a hundred grand. Interestingly, two articles also appeared dealing with other New Urbanism developments elsewhere in Collinsville. I guess the whole city will be New Urban soon.
