Italian referee Pierluigi Collina may be flown into Greece to take charge of the delicate Olympiakos-Panathinaikos match on May 11.

According to the ministry of culture Evangelos Venizelos this hypothesis is likely. "I spoke of that with the vice-ministry of sport Ghiorgos Lianis who proposed a name. But we cannot decide alone. Everybody must agree and we also have to take into account the reputation of the Greek referees."

(Sorry for the delay in answering guys... was away for orthodox Easter wich was 1 week after the Cathilic and Protestant one)

    Mario,

We used to have Foreign refs for a period during the 60's (I think) but never since. I think that It would be stupid and give a bad name to the Greek League (we already know it is rotten enough due to numerous other reasons).

    Bazza Hi.

Nice to see you here man

Re-reading my post sounds kinda stupid, I meant I remember european countries have used referees from another country in their league games, the old firm for instance (if Im not mistaken)

It is what we say to one another after Easter Sunday (orthodox Easter)...

One person sais: Christos Anesti + Christ has Risen (grammar?)

And the other replies: Indeed he has risen!

    :)

Christos Anesti = Christ is Risen!

Alithos Anesti = Indeed He is Risen!

It is a greeting and response that Orthodox Christians give each other at Pascha (Easter.) That is, of course, in Greek, but as most Orthodox parishes in the USA are quite culturally diverse, you usually know it in about half a dozen languages. At my church for instance, your likely to hear it in English, Greek, Slavonic, Romanian, Arabic, etc.

Yes man (geia sou ki esena) but especially todays away match of Olympiakos @ Giannena (with nikos Anastopoulos on the Giannina Bench) will show us with how many points and what goals will the two teams enter the big derby in one weeks time...

In the meantime my team... AEK beat Aris 4-0 and is waiting for point losses by the others... ;)
