How does it work? Do they have open tryouts? or do you have to be scouted? How many people are there on each team, is there a practice team that only comes to practices? How do the tryouts go? Could you guys please explain how it all works?
Here's what I did, that managed to get me two tryouts at D-II schools. I found the website of the school, the coaches email and talked to him directly. It took me a while to get a hold of one of the coaches but the other responded in a few hours. Just ask them if they hold open tryouts, and if not, could you possibly attend any sort of tryout. Most schools accept open tryouts in my experience. They'll ask for your soccer playing experience more than likely. Good luck.
I go to a D2 school and got recruited out of a junior college with out playing for that college(called my old club coach). From my experiences, out of the three freshman along with me, all four of us got recruited. Two others that came from a community college tried out and made the cut. Try outs at my school are going to consist of the cooper test, to weed out the ones that aren't serious, then a game against the college team. You'd have to get in touch with the coach to find out when tryouts are. I believe we'll pick a few from that try out and then see if they're seriously committed to all that we do, practice, fund-raisers, appearances, games, and so forth. Last year we had 19 guys on the team, with only two of them red shirting. If you don't know what a red shirt is, it's when a guy isn't at the right level to play in college but they'll groom him into one for the next season. It doesn't take away from eligibility. I think we can have up to 22 guys, I'm not sure though. Red shirts pretty much make up your practice team. I hope that helps, good luck at which ever school you try out at. Ask more questions as well, it helps to have more knowledge when going into a tryout.
I think it's when u run for 12 minutes straight and ur score is based on the distance you run thats what i got from the internet
The cooper test is a hard @$$ physical fitness test. We as a JV team had to go through it before tryouts. Its *at least ours was* 2 miles in under 12 mins, 80 perfect *we were watched VERY closely* curl ups in under 2 mins and i believe 20 pull ups. Well at least that was our cooper test.
The true cooper test is just 2 miles in under 12 minutes. The pull ups and curls I think maybe you're coach made up, but I could be wrong.
