This will be my first college game in many years (since watching the Gamecocks off and on from 86-88 while I was in High school) Looking foward to seeing Charleston attacking style and getting look at Guzman. Anyone else I should be looking out for? If anyone is interested Ill give my report here later. Here is an article in todays paper about the College of Charleston's team http://www.charleston.net/stories/102004/spo_20cofcsoccer.shtml ID: bigsoccer Password: bigsoccer if prompted for a login
Wish I was there, but I'll keep you all posted since I'm not. 15' -- Charleston 1-0 South Carolina GOAL - Troy Lesesne (free kick, top shelf)
have to agree with recsoc with that. It could have been 5-0 if not for the keeper. C of C pretty much dominated the entire first half. They play a nice game and mix it up tactically, Knowing when to go over the top and when to play it through the middle. Qutie frankly it had the Gamecocks looking very disorganized and Guzman was getting on his back line most of the time. When the Gamecocks had posession CofC was very quick to pressure them, often resulting in poor passes or miss kicks. The second haf The Gamecocks came out gunning and put some pressure on the Cougars, but they couldn't find the back of the net and the Cougars looked very dangerous on the counterattacks. Overall I was really impressed with College of Charleston. The Gamecocks looked like they had played three road games in a row. Just a note I may be wrong but I believe the first goal came from a corner that Lesesne took himself. The thing just arced over everyone and hit the back post and bounced in. here is a write up on the game from the College of Charleston's website Cougars shut out #15 Gamecocks
No, it was a free kick, near the end line between the edge of the box and the corner. Where we were standing, it was hard to tell but I remember the foul that led to the kick. The Cougs are for real and I don't know how USC plays normally, but they just did not look organized at all. C of C moved the ball at will and their offense was very active. All the Cougs had a good touch on the ball, even the backs and their passing was crisp and accurate. If they didn't see an option immediately, they held the ball until something opened up. Very impressive. And how many times did they knock a long diagonal ball to switch the point of attack? USC never did adjust to that, it was open all night. Hopefully, C of C will continue playing well and make the NCAA's. They will surprise some people.
thanks bribey, watching 3 kids and a soccer match isn't the easiest of thing. good to see you and the your wife again. Mikey

I would have to say that it's now official. SC has been BERSONIZED and the downhill slide is underway. To everyone in the Palmetto state....forget about a flu shot, get to your local clinic FAST and get some antibersonbiotics.
good one Luv. unfortunately the team was not designated as high risk to get the bersenflu by the administration so they were not inoculated during preseason. they should have been reading this thread and they would have got a big dose of antibersenillin prior to getting that good old boy pat on the back when they arrived at camp. they were doomed when he touched them. don't worry guys it won't kill you but it may very well destroy your abiltiy to play good soccer again. sorry about the losses guys. It is that mid-season top ten curse of the Bersen. I just hope he doesn't start his usual mix and match players and really send the team in a spiral. keep on trying guys
