Unfortunately I had to work yesterday and was only a couple of miles away from the stadium. I did listen to the game on the radio and for sure by halftime I thought Virginia was gonna win this game easily, but Fresno staged one hell of a comeback in the second half to tie it all up at the end of regulation and then won in OT.

I think you may have missed a game back on Nov. 20th.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this game. I'm a little peeved that Cal didn't get a trip to the Rose Bowl, but this should be a great game.

I'm *really* looking forward to Texas @ Ohio State on 9/10/2005!

    5 in a row...but I'd rather be in Phoenix.

Traffic in Charlotte's Uptown must be a mess right now.

Anyhoo, hope you enjoyed your early welcome to the ACC

Peterson breaks his hand and then leg in consecutive games that he plays. Now that's some bad luck.

I'll probably have this logo upside down and black (for mourning) later this afternoon.

Congratulations to Texas Tech for pulling the Holiday Bowl upset over Cal. I thought Cal should be in the BCS. Guess I'm eating crow. I'm still longing for the days when we (Penn State) were in these things.

Man what a way to end the game (LSU-Iowa).

[result]Iowa wins with no time left on a hail mary TD pass. The LSU safety blew it big time. 30-24 Hawkeyes win.[/result]

[result]No crap. My wife & I just got back from the game. When they lined up for the last play, I said to my wife, there's a wideout nobody's covering, and BAM! Touchdown Iowa. I was sitting in the LSU section and that place was just deflated afterwards.[/result]

Results forthcoming (so look away if you don't want to know):

Wow, some great finishes today. Obviously, there was a spectacular win for Iowa on the last-second touchdown. The Rose Bowl was a great game, Dusty Mangum winning it for Texas on a last-second field goal. The night game (Fiesta Bowl) was non-competitive, but what a great job for Urban Meyer, Alex Smith and company. I would have liked to have seen them play one of the top three. Should be an interesting last two bowls on Monday and Tuesday.

The finish to the Iowa game was crazy, I was pissed/bummed after Iowa decided to get the illegal procedure penalty and waste 10 seconds instead of calling a timeout then we scored that incredible 55 yard touchdown pass :D. LSU fans looked shocked to say the least :D.

    Fer damn sure.

I think the Tire Bowl (and our reg season games against Wake) showed me that with minimal mistakes and decent special teams play, we're at least equal to the mid-table ACC football teams.

We just need more speed on defense. Quick WRs could have been the death of us. Our DBs were laying off the UNC WRs and giving them yards of space. With faster DBs who DON'T get burned deep (Blackmon, I'm looking at you), our defense could be loads better going into ACC play.

Let's see what the rest of the ACC's got. We're ready for the tough challenge.

Just got back today from Orlando. As a Hawkeye fan, I don't know if I'm ever going to top that finish. My dad and I (and 30,000 other Iowa fans) were just going absolutely bonkers. And to correct someone, that was NOT a Hail Mary. It was a route, he was uncovered, and an absolutely perfect pass. Touchdown, Iowa. GO HAWKS!

Congrats, man, that was a great finish. Ferentz is the best coach in college football, in my opinion. Awesome end for the 5th year senior that caught the winning touchdown...the first TD of his career in the last play of his last game.

Did I hear correctly and that Jason White of OU is 24 y.o.? Isn't that a bit old to be a senior QB or is that the norm?

He was allowed two redshirt years for medical hardship reasons, so this is his sixth year of college. His DOB is 6-19-1980, and he started at OU in 1999. So he graduated from high school a bit older than average and then spent 6 years in college, and that gives you a 24-year-old QB.

This is downright embarassing for OU.

But very good for anti-B.(C.)S. people. :D

The seats in Orange Bowl are now half empty with USC fans (about the same attendance as the Dolphins attendance this season). Now I wonder if Auburn and Utah would have an arguement about this?

Mike Segroves is going to be one pissed off mofo.

Auburn can't say much. They eeked past the #9 team. While, Utah decimated the #19 team, still not much argument when #1 is kicking the #2 out of #2.

I agree. However this is the same USC team that eeked out on UCLA and California. It would very interesting on which conference is strong (Pac 10, SEC, Big 12, Big 10). Especially when there are critics (some that are East Coast bias) that said that the Pac 10 is overrated.

    USC's schedule:

    Sat, Aug 28 at (9) Virginia Tech W 24-13
    Sat, Sep 11 Colorado State W 49-0
Sat, Sep 18 at Brigham Young W 42-10
    Sat, Sep 25 at Stanford W 31-28
    Sat, Oct 9 (4) California W 23-17
    Sat, Oct 16 (21) Arizona State W 45-7
    Sat, Oct 23 Washington W 38-0
Sat, Oct 30 at Washington State W 42-12
Sat, Nov 6 at Oregon State W 28-20
    Sat, Nov 13 Arizona W 49-9
    Sat, Nov 27 Notre Dame W 41-10
    Sat, Dec 4 at UCLA W 29-24
