Did anyone else hear the news that the Strokes and the white stripes will record (a) song(s) toghether?

And more importantly, did they already book a warehouse big enough to house the matching hype?

    Jesus. Hype is right.

Look here, I'm not saying it's bad music, quite the contrary; but if I want to listen to the Kinks or Rolling Stones, I'll just flipping listen to them. I don't need to hear it all over again from a "new" band.

I saw a sold out Jon Spencer Blues Explosion show last night at the Fillmore, and it reminded how absolutely unimportant the White Stripes are. The Blues Explosion show all the little kiddies how it's done. F'ing unbelievable.

    pointless gimmick is right.

jack white > neil haggarty > jon spencer

sorry, 655321, i can't stand jon spencer. he is a one trick pony and enthusiasm alone doesn't cut it. i can't say i'm shocked that the white stripes are pretty well hated these days since they became nme darlings and are on mtv but it's too bad.

Well, if you don't dig him that's fine, but speaking as someone who has seen tons of great shows and tons of bad shows, I can tell you that Jon Spencer can play like noone's business. Seriously, three guys on stage with zero backdrops, zero props, no film behind them. Just a red curtain and and amplifiers. The crowd was absolutely losing it. And he was just playing like it was the only thing he knew how to do. I can't believe how good it was.
