Sorry, I couldn't find any better rhymes -- feel free to mock until the mod is forced to change. In case anyone has any doubt, decaf green tea in tea bags is not very good. I've also been drinking genmaicha in tea bags - it's passable, but not that great.
Moroccan Mint Tea kicks ass. Rich, strong, and has the powerful mint feel if made correctly. Herbal teas in general are good. Starbucks sucks. Expensive and burnt. Dunkin Donuts rocks. I support the Free Trade movement. Organic Coffee is just about always excellent. If you're in a supermarket, need coffee, and see Foglifter in the Millstone shelf space, buy some. Trust me. Time to remove the rhyme. That is all for now.
(p.s that long thread rule thing sucks some real ass. i dont even think its made the boards any faster at all...)
I sort of posed this question on the last thread's epitaph, and sorry if it's been discussed on one of the millions of pages before, but if you had to choose between tea or coffee would any of you hesitate? I like the occasional espresso after a big meal, but I drink much more tea than coffee. Isn't it an either or for most people?
DK........ I can't stand Coffee in the morning, but I love my Green Ginger and Darjeeling tea. If I had to choose though, I would keep my espresso after a nice meat and potatoes dinner.
I'm gonna go ahead and say it...when it comes to picking up a cup of coffee to go, whether it be Peets, Starbucks, or whatthefvckever, nothing beats 7-11. I really do believe that.
I don't mind 7-11 either, it's certainly much better than McDonalds, Conoco, or other 30 second grab and run coffee. I've never had Blue Mountain, too freaking expensive, at least from www.gmcr.com. If I see some next time I go to Sunflower Market, I'll pick some up. Speaking of GMCR.com, this time I ordered Golden French Toast, Guatemalan Finca dos Marias, and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. Especially looking foward to the last two. I had some Ethiopian at an indie shop last Friday and loved it.
English Breakfast Tea when I'm in a milk and sugar mood, rosehip tea when I'm sick (getting harder to find, though), and darjeeling tea (my absolute favorite) anytime.
Alright! I've got a question of great significance. As the thread regulars know I've been drinking coffee for quite some time. And in all that time I've always drunk it black. I don't doctor it up with anything. So I've never used this substance called "cream," and have no knowledge of it. This has recently become something of a problem. There's this girl ... don't these stories always start out this way? To make a long story short, last weekend I ended up making coffee for her one morning. I'm probably gonna end up making coffee for her one morning again this weekend. She likes cream in her coffee (yes, it's a mark against her, but nobody's perfect). So now I'm thinking that I should keep cream in my fridge, but there's a whole bunch of different types of cream, and I honestly don't know squat about which one people put in their coffee. Help ...
You don't need heavy cream, just half and half. But are you sure it's cream and not milk? I think it's rare that people these days reach for the half and half, although I personally like it. To be really safe, I'd stock skim, whole and half and half - then you could offer all three.
Wawa blows 7-11 out of the water in all aspects. this drink is so ********ing awesome for summer afternoons/evenings (it helps to have an espresso machine where you get awesome crema, though). glass: highball the drink: over 6 ice cubes pour about a half a glass of milk (this can be adjusted to taste) layer about 200-250 ml espresso over the milk add 1 shot of vanilla syrup (optional) layer 1-2 shots of cream over top of it all (optional) leave layered for presentation stir enjoy.
This post serves two purposes: bumping the thread to hopefully revive it, and to tell you that Guatemalan coffee rocks a great rocking.
Favorite bean would be Kaanapaali Peaberry, but my staple is brown bag 8 O'clock. The key is the brew method regardless of which bean is bought:
I just found this thread so sorry if this has been posted before. Parisian coffee SUCKS. I was in Paris earlier this month, but could barely drink this crap. I almost went to the Starbucks in Montparnasse just to get some of the real stuff. Simply bitter overground crap. My sense of patriotism was appeased to know that American "French roast" is better than Parisian "French roast". PS I do not drink wimpy coffee.
Had to go to Colorado Springs for business on Tuesday, 80 miles south of the office. A side benefit, picked up 2 pounds of Dunkin Donuts Beans that the DD just go in. No French Vanilla but I like their regular blend too. As a native New Englander with zero DDs in Denver, as opposed to 4 per town in NE, DD is always a side highlight of a trip to Springs, which has the only ones in Colorado.
7-11 is by far the best of all the gas station / convenience store coffees. Probably better than even the Conocos that have Krispy Creme. The Wild Bean Cafe, found in many BP/Amocos, is usually pretty good though. Right now I'm drinking the Dunkin Donuts I got two weeks ago.
I don't know if you have Land O'Lakes in far Truckee, but their fat free half and half is not bad. Certainly better that the store-brand knockoffs around here. But if carageenan isn't your cup of tea (ahem), stick to any half-pint of the nearest local dairy. Half-pints are small enough to be used before they curdle, if only one person is partaking... Recently found out that Green Mountain coffee is Fair Trade compliant, and I'll second the earlier recommendations for Millstone Foglifter and Dunkin' Doughnuts whole beans. That said, I haven't had a cup of Micky D's since the flywheel fell of my friend's Chevy Vega in Somerset PA back in '76. I'd compare that to battery acid, but that would not be fair to the automotive electrical storage device industry. (It did the job, thoough: we stayed awake long into the night until salvation--in the form of a ride home--arrived.) Anybody out there still drinking Kenyan AA?
