I'm pretty sure that the TV crew wouldn't have picked this up, but Cobi got mugged by a Mexican defender off the ball and away from play. It was near the touchline opposite from the benches and right in front of me. The Mexican player just ran right into Cobi for no apparant reason and may have given him an elbow.

Was kinda funny in the "why do they always want to beat up Cobi" kinda way.

I asked the el Tri fan next to me if they were going to kill Cobi when he subbed in. His response ''He's not as good as he used to be. kill no. Beat up, probably''

Can anyone who was at the game tell me what Cobi's workrate off the ball looked like? I was disappointed in what I saw on TV. I expected him to chase and pressure as much as Donovan and McBride had been doing. Cobi was fresh, but he looked "tired" to me...

I agree. Convoy was much more active after coming on than Cobi.

Yeah Convey was everywhere. That what I expected from the Jones substitution. He didn't come into a game where we were ahead and he could just take the ball into the corner and sit on it. We needed him to pressure and force Mexican turnovers.

Cobi did two big things though. He ran down the ball in the corner which looked to be certain throw in and put the cross in the head of Chris Klein I think it was. Cobi also made a run right down the middle of the Mexican defense and Klein just couldn't get the ball to him, that would have been a certain 1 v the keeper as the defenders were too wide to close him down.

He did work off the ball some and towards the end he made a nice run to the left corner when one of the US players (Convey?) drilled a ball down the right side that went to the keeper. After that ball was played Cobi was pretty animated about waving his arms and trying to tell the guys to get him the ball.

Donovan worked harder than any other US player though...Cobi didn't run near as much, but was argueably just as dangerous.

it's because they still remember that horrible guest appearance he had on "90210" back in the day.

Anyone catch the run late in the match... at the left edge of the screen, as USA is advancing, one of the Mexican midfielders gets in the way of Jones, who gets a hold of the guy and literally tosses him to the side. Classic, I guess.

I suspect he gives as good as he gets.

Did anybody see McBride elbow Briseño in the mouth away from the play? Should've been a card for that.

The ref couldnt even see when to give a corner kick vs a goal kick. Doesnt surprise me that this didnt get called either.
