I hear that at least three SEC Coaches will be looking for new jobs:

    Sue Patberg-Georgia
    Warren Lipka-Kentucky
    George Fotopoulos-LSU

Shelly Smith at South Carolina and Ronnine Hill at Vanderbilt are also rumored to be in trouble.

In the ACC I hear that Laura Kerrigan is in trouble at NC State.

Will anyone really get canned. I see the NC State thing more than the others: I would like to see Paul Cariney the HEad at UNC-W get that job he has done more with less at UNC Wilmington. The other person who should be getting some good looks will be Rebecca Hornbocker the HEad coach at Iowa State She has made that program one of the better ones in the BIg 12

I hear coaches at Texas Tech and Arkansas Little Rock are on the outs. Then if Texas under achieves again who knows what will happen at Texas.

I fully expect at least 3 SEC coaches to be gone. The names mentioned above are those I don't expect to be back. It could be more than 3. If the AD's at those schools are serious about supporting soccer, then changes need to be made at Georgia, USC, LSU, for sure. Vandy and UK maybe, but I think both coaches will get another year.

I do expect UK to make a change, apparently the players are about to mutiny.

I'm sorry, but I find the premise for this whole discussion a little distasteful and full of unsubstantiated innuendo that isn't fair. If you had asked the question of "which teams didn't meet your expectations" or which teams "ought to be doing better" with the resources they have, then I could infer "who was on the hot seat". I know this sounds like PC-jibberish, but knowing how hard these coaches work and the impact on their players and assistants as "real persons," it makes me cringe a little at the way this was worded.

In the Big 12 it would be Felix Oskam at Texas Tech. Eight straight losing seasons and not a single conference win this year.

David, Part of coaching is putting yourself into a position of being criticized and having the public wonder if it is worthy for the coach to keep his/her job. As for innuendo, that isn't what I am after at all. I have hard sources that confirm all of the above mentioned coaches are in trouble. I am not saying that any of these coaches are bad people or that they don't have feelings, but as someone who has been there, I fully believe that the public has a right to wonder "who is on the hot seat."

Sue Patberg resigned at Georgia today

University of Georgia soccer coach Sue Patberg has resigned her position after five years heading up the Bulldog program according to an announcement Monday by UGA Director of Athletics Damon Evans.

Patberg amassed an overall record of 49-45-9 and a 21-22-4 mark against Southeastern Conference competition during her five seasons in Athens. Including seven years at Minnesota, Patberg owns a 146-87-18 record as a head coach.

I have no problem with criticizing performance. I do have a problem with an open-ended invitation to state who is on the "hot seat", knowing full well that the statements to follow will as likely be someone's "wish" as opposed to a "reality". A coach's won-lost record is not the only thing they're judged on by their boss, though it is the obvious thing apparent to fans and it's an over-simplification to infer that everyone with a poor won-loss record is "on the hot seat." I don't see much in this string of messages that criticizes performance. I only see lists of names, and that is what I object to. I'm sure many folks won't see a thing wrong with this, but I'd rather see the discussion on a slightly higher level so that I can figure out what's sheer speculation and what's reality.

As an Iowa State fan (in all sports), I hope Hornbacher stays and builds the Cyclones into a Big XII power worthy of challenging Kansas and aTm.

She has done very well with the program thus far.
