Come by the usual place for the Club Quake tailgate. Manny is scheduled to appear at 4:30. http://www.clubquake.org/ Add the usual stuff here about how you could attend if you were cool enough to be a Club Quake member - membership@clubquake.org or http://www.clubquake.org/membership.php
Do the players actually enjoy this or do they seem forced or "put upon"? Just curious. Lagos doesn't strike me as an out going guy where as Dayak has stopped by our post-game tail gate(maybe 8 people) un-solicited(except for a "great game Troy") on his way out to his car. And he was very friendly.
Dayak was one of the best, he brought presents for people who could answer trivia questions one time. But the rest of the players who have visited have all been very cool as well. In other Club Quake tailgate news, I won't be bringing the Casbah Grill since somebody scheduled their wedding for this weekend. I'm pretty sure that Pat (Club Quake tailgates/events guy) is on top of it, but any of you regulars who may be able to help out by bringing a grill, you may want to bring it. The Casbah Grill will be back in action at the USA-Wales game.
Some are more into it than others, but it has always been on a volunteer basis. This is the first season the Quakes office has had a hand in scheduling visits. In years prior, it was just a casual request by the fans... Manny has been offering to stop by for the past two seasons and we never got around to scheduling him. Mike
Cowboy and Papa Lagos are definitely two different personalities. But not in a bad way or anything. Cowboy goes out of his way for the fans. But look at how long he's been playing soccer in the Bay Area! He signed with a professional team at age 17. Won a championship at, what was it, like 20? He's been doing this for a long time and in the Bay Area at that. He's got a ton of fans and he's been around them for a long time. Papa Lagos is great guy too! He is very personable with the fans. Always smiling and willing to talk and whatnot. He may not go out of his way necessarily the same ways Cowboy does. But he's a great guy! Why don't you stop by the tailgate while he's there and see for yourself?
Someone ask him why he's sucked so far this season. . . . . . . . . . . Just kidding. (Well, kind of just kidding)
You are referring, of course, to the constant replay of Donovan's PK conversion, with the Gals' Fartman diving the wrong way?
If I can be of any help in set up, let me know tomorrow morning either by PM or reply to this thread. I'll be in the neighborhood fairly early tomorrow...there's SJSU baseball across the street starting at 11a. Should be done by 2-ish-3-ish so if you can use an extra set of hands let me know.
