did I call it or did I call it :D

I knew something was up with Javier Perez Tueffer and Uncle Phil. They have been having meetings for a long time now. And the FMF appointing Javier Perez Tueffer of international affirs.. hmmmm

I also found it strange that AEG only invited Club America President, J. Perez Tueffer to the inauguration of the HDC.

Could be America's main interest would be in taking over the Galaxy -- if only to gain immediate access to HDC. Who could blame them?

THey were going to have immediate access to the HDC regardless. AEG/PHil has been rolling out the red carpet for the MFL/FMF, and gives them the works. Both parties make a lot of money.

Loose translation for those interested in the original article:

    America’s expansion doesn’t have limits.

In Mexico, it wants a franchise team in “Primera A” (second division tier) to continue providing training to its lower team players.

And abroad, is considering the possibility of creating another America club to compete in MLS, the U.S. professional league.

Javier Perez Teuffer confirmed this idea.

“We want to have a team in the U.S., being competitive at a good level. And what is better than doing it in MLS,” said the executive.

Few days ago he came back form LA. “I got to see the new Galaxy stadium. It’s very pretty.”

And it was there that Perez Teuffer had his first dealing with the MLS executives. “We still don’t know if we would buy a franchise or would loan it from them.”

Perez Teuffer and America’s owners are interested in closing negotiations as soon as possible to be able to compete in the next league tournament starting in September.

It sort of boggles the mind...

It's hard to believe a Mexican businessman would be interested in the Single Entity system. Would this be another team in LA? Would this team play in the MLS or in a special league with the reborn Cosmos? To me, it sounds like a group of Mexican big-money folks smelled something happening and wanted to get in on it, even though they don't have the slightest idea what they're talking about.

It's hard to believe a Mexican businessman would be interested in the Single Entity system.

Sooner or later, the single entity will be dropped. I am quite sure MLS knows that in order for it to expand and grow, competition will have to prevail from an executive standpoint.

Me thinks Lamar Hunt and AEG are basically trying to get thier teams to a decent financial position.. and sell off thier teams piece by piece.

Would this be another team in LA? Would this team play in the MLS or in a special league with the reborn Cosmos?

LA would be the smartest choice.

To me, it sounds like a group of Mexican big-money folks smelled something happening and wanted to get in on it, even though they don't have the slightest idea what they're talking about.

You sure about that? You sure its not the other way around?

The American bigmoney folks smelled something when Mexican investors started bringing in Mexican exibition matches to the US in the late 60s early 70s. They smelled something when Televisa started a Spanish network (and then made it illegal for foreigners to have majority ownership of US networks) and saw how profitable it was.

I think its safe to say they do have the slightest idea

Didnt Televisa own the Los Angeles Aztecs ? I wonder if they would bring that team back or they would just have a Club America franchise in the MLS similiar to how AEG wanted a Chivas squad in the MLS...

Whatever happened to the Los Angeles Chivas idea that was thrown about a while back ?

Will we now have Las Aguilas de Los Angeles ?
Will Manolo Lapuente have a new gig in El mini-Azteca del Norte ?

It's the whole single-entity concept that's interesting and how a deal like this would fit in with single-entity. I don't think Perez Teuffer would go into something like this without a plan. Has MLS started down a path that's in it's best interest ?

    Stay tuned folks.

    Hmmmm

Two LA teams, one Mexican, one not. Both play in HDC.

Think about it. More dates for HDC, the potential for a real derby.

Talk about thinking out of the box.....

Did someone say move San Jose? :)

A Los Angeles derby would be great for MLS. As would a New York area derby. Create some cross town rivalry excitement. Thumbs up to that.

Don't put both teams at Victoria st. however. The teams need their own respective homes.

i agree a LA Derby would kick a$$

Jorge Vergara was at the game too.
imagine, Chivas and AMerica battling for an LA franchise...
    that would be sweet!

Why? It works for AC Milan and Inter Milan.

I would love to have two LA teams to beat. [IMG]

AEG has 6 franchises, well dump one to aguilas to operate, makes sense

    or

the Burn has no owner/operator yet, just rumors for next year with the move to a nice stadia (ala Home depot center) in Frisco tx

think about Houston also.... expansion is possible, as contraction was in Florida.

now we are all open to crazy rumors and speculations, great for the small MLS!

Whatever happen to that idea of Yanks and Mexi players not counting as foreigners in each other's league? Put 1 and 1 together and things could turn interesting.

The Latest quote from Perez Teuffer :

De la franquicia de la MLS, dijo: "vamos muy adelantados con eso. En principio será en California. Todo está en manos de los abogados".

Mentioning the MLS franchise: We are very advanced with that. In the begining it will be in California. Everything is in the hands of the lawyers"

Will Televisa purchase the L.A. Galaxy ? Dammit RDL i think you were right !!!
