Has anyone seen him practice? I heard he was signed on an emergency contract. What is that?

    Clint

I don't know if anyone has seen him play but DJ Countess was injured in the first game and couldn't play last weekend. Back-up Jeff Cassar was called into action but they needed another back-up in case something happened to Cassar. Clint is probably on a short term contract and will be released when DJ is healthy again.

    Re: Clint

why would he give up amateur status for such an unsure situation?

It has got to be a P40 deal that they have not announced yet.

    Wild Speculation:

Maybe he's a P-40 'without profile'. He'll be every team's emergency keeper this season, otherwise loaned out to an A League team. He by elligible for next year's superdraft or given to an expansion team....

Baumstark and JD Martin (a goalie from Northwestern, now with the Fire) were both signed by MLS and according to Peter Wilt, on the Fire board, MLS will now sign some players to the league and then assign the players to teams on a as needed basis because MLS no longer has the agreement with the A-League to call players up.

In fact what Stopper4 posted is what it seemed like would happen according to Wilt.

I had heard something similar during preseason but have been able to get confirmation.

part of what I heard was that you can only have an emergency player if you have filled your developmental roster.

Clint is an emergency GK who signed with MLS and can play for any team in MLS. There are actaully two of them, JD Martin is the other. Martin is in Burn camp this week with Countess with U-23's

Clint was in when DJ was hurt. When DJ was ready to play they sent Clint back home.

Now DJ is gone again and Clint is with DC.
    so they get JD Martin.

Or as Jeffries says, "It's actaully kinda good, we get to see both the backup options." I am sure they jsut asked for the other one to take a look at him, since Countess will be back and Martin came in just for training.
